Fonntanelli gundogs are breeders of fully health tested spaniels that are fit for function and happily working in the field or other activity they are asked to do.

We carry out a full panel of DNA testing alongside hip and elbow scoring and annual eye tests. This helps screen for genetic conditions.

Some of the key conditions we test for include:

AMS (Acral Mutilation Syndrome) - unable to feel pain in their extremities

PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) – causes irreversible blindness

FN (Familial Nephropathy) – a life-threatening kidney disease

PP – (paradoxical pseudomyotonia) - muscular disorder

Annual BVA eye testing for conditions that can’t be detected by DNA

Hip/elbow scoring to reduce the risk of joint issues

We have had success in the BASC Sporting Spaniel class at Crufts with Fonnelli's Songbird and now have our first Welsh Springer Spaniel starting her showing and gundog career.
