I have owned and lived with this lovely breed for over 35 years. I
live in Bodmin and am very lucky to be in close proximity to a
park, countryside paths and nearby extensive woodland
walks. We visit them everyday and it is one of our favourite
pastimes. My home is approximately 5 minutes from the A30

I purchased my first dog in 1984 from a local breeder his
name was Bracken. 4 years later, after falling totally for this
breed I decided to purchase a companion for him. I decided
that this time I might have a go at showing, so approached a
well known breeder for producing quality bloodlines I went to
Val Tregaskis of the Steval Kennel and purchased Barnaby -
Steval Fantango of Trebell. Life was never boring after this
young man arrived and I became very involved with the
show world. Regularly attending shows I had considerable
success with him qualifying for Crufts from puppy, Best in
Show from a junior at our South Western Golden Retriever
Club, reserve Best in Show at the Taunton & District Canine
Society and latterly a RCC at Darlington Ch.Show etc.etc, He
truly was an exceptional once in a lifetime dog for me. In
1990 I took a long journey up to Durham where my next plan
was to purchase my foundation bitch from the well
established Amirene Kennel. Amber came home with me and
proved to be a very kind and gentle natured bitch who was a
pleasure to live with and excellent brood bitch. From there I
am where I am today living at home with my 5 bitches and
sadly no dogs. I first started breeding in 1992 and have
thoroughly involved my self with the breeding of these
beautiful and intelligent dogs amounting to 16 years of
experience and still learning. All my bitches are KC/BVA
health screened for eyes and hips and have been bred for
their excellent temperaments which I consider to be
paramount.

I do not show my current bitches extensively at the present
but go to the occasional local show when they are in full coat
to exhibit and to meet up with old friends. But i do come home
with the occasional rosette or even a cup if I am lucky. Sadly
living in Cornwall has made dog showing for me an expensive
hobby when traveling out of the County.

I have been judging this breed for 10 years and will hopefully
continue for as long as I am still enjoying it.

I am member of The Golden Retriever Club and The South
Western Golden Retriever Club and I try to attend their
annual seminars whenever possible.
