Happy Birthday Champdogs, 25 years old today !

The idea for Champdogs was born out of a conversation in 1999 with my mother-in-law, Joyce, when she asked if I could create a website for her. Six months later, after a lot of very late nights, on November 19th 1999, Champdogs was launched and Jaskar were our first ever breeders.

Joyce sadly passed away earlier this year, and we would like to acknowledge that without the help and support in those early years, from herself and her husband Arnold, Champdogs would not be the site it is today. Special thanks are also due to Leigh Smith who worked tirelessly as Champdogs admin for nearly 20 years before retiring a few years ago. Leigh helped shape our membership terms and conditions and ensured that they were implemented in a consistent and fair manner across all our members.

The first litter listed on Champdogs was added in January 2000. It was a Pekingese litter bred by Kushan, who also bred the Crufts best in breed that year. Since those early days, we have gone from strength to strength and have listed over 70,000 litters of puppies and currently have over 35,000 breeders registered with us.

Responsible breeding and health testing have always been the ethos behind Champdogs, and we like to think in our own little way that over the course of the last 25 years, we have helped to educate both owners and breeders and help improve the health and welfare of dogs in general. We look forward to continuing to help put prospective puppy owners in touch with the very best dog breeders for many more years to come.
