Chase, Chase, Chase .......... we lost her great granny Race when she was just a few weeks old and asked her breeder Lindsey Hazelton if we could have a puppy from her litter sired by 'Rowan' (Tenfield Border Patrol JW).
What a wise move that was. Chase had a meteoric puppy and junior career in the show ring, winning Best Puppy awards at six months old. She was shortlisted in strong Puppy Stakes classes at Championship Shows on both attempts. She ended her Puppy career winning nineteen firsts from fourteen Open Shows with three Gundog Puppy Groups and six Best Puppy awards at Open Shows and with Best Puppy in Show and Reserve Best Puppy in Show twice. She also won four Best Any Variety Gundog Puppy awards and Best Any Variety Puppy at another show, on days when she didn't win Best Puppy in Breed.
Chase won her first Best of Breed at a 'Premier' Open Show age just 12 months (87 Goldens entered), where she was also short-listed to the final six for Best in Show and qualified for Crufts for a second time in 2004 winning Yearling Bitch at Paignton Championship Show and being 2nd in Junior. This was her only Championship Show in the first six months of 2004.
Our biggest win came when she won the PetPlan Junior Stakes at Bournemouth Championship Show in the same year and qualified for the prestigious PetPlan Junior Stakes Finals, being the only gundog qualifier that year and only the second Golden ever to qulaify. She topped this just a few days later by winning three classes at Richmond Championship Show, easily gaining her Junior Warrant and at her final Championship Show that year won Undergraduate Bitch after winning more Open Show Best of Breeds.
Since 2004 she has remained at home, giving her time to mature and producing two litters of nine. A puppy from her first litter by Steval Soul Singer 'Tenfield Raceaway' lives in Jersey - he has his own page on this site. A litter brother 'Tenfield Border Racer' is winning consistently in France for his owner Shirley Hall-Roberts.
From her second litter by Tenfield Sea Biscuit, three of her puppies have been out there winning, including Tenfield Sea Patrol who was Best Puppy in Show at Eastern Counties GRC Championship Show and has gained his Junior Warrant. His sister Tenfield Silver Sea Spray qualified for Crufts at her and her owners first ever dog show and was placed in Junior Bitch at Crufts 2008. Tenfield Sea Diamond was Best Puppy & Gundog Puppy Group 3 at the Irish Kennel Club's Championship Show.
Chase is one again expecting puppies to Tenfield Merryman and we hope this litter will be just as successful!
