Rowan is a happy go lucky boy who sired winning puppies in his one and only litter, including our own 'Chase' who gained her Junior Warrant, Best Puppy in Show awards and has generally surpassed all of our expectations. Both of his daughters shown have won several Championship Show firsts and Open Show Best of Breeds between them.
Rowan is so very good-natured and lovable, he is not only a good-looking show dog with powerful driving movement, but also a fabulous working dog, who will hunt tenaciously and easily gained his Show Gundog Working Certificate.
Rowan gained his Junior Warrant at the hardest time possible, when the country stopped in the tracks of 'Foot and Mouth' diease. In fact, we were so sure at one point that he wouldn't have the chance to gain the final (fourth) first he needed at a Championship Show, we almost put the letters F.M.V. (Foot and Mouth Victim!) after his name anyway! Right at the last minute, with just two weeks to go, he did it in style, winning a class of 32 Juniors at Blackpool.
He has been sparely shown, as believe it or not, a 'REAL' Golden is not too fashionable in the show ring today - though if only we had a penny from every other dog breed exhibitor and member of the public who has admired his rich deep golden wavy coat! He has however, won many Championship Show first, been placed as high as second in Championship Show Stakes classes and has won Open Show Best of Breeds, Gundog Groups and Gundog Puppy Groups.
We love him to pieces - we have been asked twice by Golden people overseas if they could 'borrow' him for stud purposes for a year or so, but we simply couldn't let him go. They valued his old fashioned good looks - rich colour, tremendous bone, cat-like feet and effortless sound movement.
Rowan has always done us proud when he has been shown, winning many Championship Show firsts and places, Open Show Gundog Groups and Best of Breeds. Most of all, he is a kind, loveable, honest boy, everyone who gets to know him just loves him, he is hard to resist. He is a favourite of our gamekeeper and a dog we wouldn't part with for all the tea in China!
Unfortunately due to an accident involving an electric cattle fence whilst workng on a shoot, Rowan has been withdrawn from public stud.
