28/11/07 We are delighted to announce that Lucy's mating with Ch Captain Finn produced 6 beautiful puppies.
The puppies are all perfectly formed, a good size and show the colour that is one of the hallmarks of puppies born and reared from our bitches.
As a maiden bitch, Lucy took a little time to birth the first puppy and kept her owners waiting into the small hours. She rapidly made up for lost time, with the others following in quick succession. She is proving an excellent mother, scrupulously clean and watchful of where she puts her feet. Less than a day after whelping, they have already put on good weight and have plump pink tummies!
5/12/07 All the puppies have more than doubled their weight in the first week and are making excellent progress. Their eyes are getting ready to open and they are active and inquisitive already.
14/12/07 Weaning started today - they tucked into the weaning porridge with enthusiasm, but still wanted mum afterwards! All 6 puppies are progressing well.
27/12/07 Almost fully weaned now, eating Pedigree puppy food and Lactol 4 times a day. Mum still gives them an occasional top up, especially overnight. They had their first excursion outside the whelping area and were intrigued and curious.
02/01/08 5 weeks old and growing apace. They celebrated the new year with their first trip into the garden and enjoyed romping around and playing with our older bitch.
09/01/08 6 weeks old and getting independent and very active. They visit the garden twice a day and are not bothered by the rain (unlike their owners!)
21/01/08 All the puppies are now settled in their new homes
