After Millie and I enjoyed a cream tea in the rain on a visit to Devon in January, a fruitful assignation with a handsome dog named Sh Ch Stormerick Solomon took place.
As ever Millie doesn't do things by halves and a scan has confirmed that this time she is carrying nine puppies due on 20 March 2008.
A number of puppies have been provisionally booked, therefore, I am not taking any further names at the present time. All potential new owners will be carefully vetted.
We are delighted that Solomon is the sire of Millie's litter, we have admired him since he was a puppy, he is just 4 days older than our Eveninghill Murphy's Law (Murphy). Just like Murphy (Millie's dad) he has won a class at the prestigious dog show CRUFTS when he won the Veteran Dog class at Crufts 2008.
Millie has had her puppies one day early on 19th March. No wonder she was so uncomfortable at the end - although the scan had shown 9 puppies she was carrying 11!!! Sadly we lost three dog puppies but Millie is the proud mother of 6 boys and 2 girls.
We are so proud of our Mills - she loves her babies and as before is a wonderful mum.
The puppies have been given pet names - Tom Thumb, Harold, Ted, Hank, Boris and Arthur for the boys with the girls being Hattie and Pixie (on account of her ears!)
The girls are all booked but dog puppies are available to loving and permanent homes. Genuine enquiries by email or phone for a dog puppy are welcome but be warned we require lots of information about you and your family before you will be invited to see our precious babies. The puppies welfare is my main concern - puppies are not items that can be purchased from Argos or the local market! If you would like to be considered as prospective new owners please send an email giving some detail of your situation (family, home, holidays) or please call me. Please be aware that we expect all new owners to sign a contract agreeing that if at any time in the dog's life (puppy or adult) you are unable to continue to home them then they must be returned to us. We also place breeding restrictions on either sex, this is to protect our precious babies. Believe me when I say that breeding is not a money making exercise, but brings joy as well as heartache.
The puppies will be able to leave for their new homes from around 7/8 May. Puppies can be kept on for a short while if holidays are an issue. We will also have pup to stay if you have a holiday booked this year (subject to timings).
5th April - The puppies are all doing very well, they were wormed for the first time yesterday - so a first hurdle over. They have opened their eyes and are now becoming little puppies, the personalities of each are coming through. As Boris managed to fall out of the whelping box yesterday (or did he climb) we have had to turn it around to prevent further escapees! Typical boy! They will have a first meal of raw mince this Wednesday - I'm quite sure that this will go down a treat and will help Millie who must be feeling the strain of feeding 8 babies.
10 April - They enjoyed two meals of raw mince today. Hattie in particular found it very exciting - her eating habits remind me very much of her half brother Speedy (from Millie's last litter). Tomorrow I will introduce Arden Grange.
17 April - Due to time wasters we have a dog puppy available - we would particularly welcome enquiries from people who either currently own a golden retriever or who have previously owned one. He will be available to leave home after 12 May. Please telephone me on 01462 810903 - you can read all about our dogs on our breeder page and the individual pages for each of our dogs. We are located in Bedfordshire.
20 April - After a very busy weekend with lots of visitors all the puppies are now booked. We have met all our new puppy owners (with the exception of one couple who will be coming next Sunday) and are delighted that Millie's puppies will be going to live with such caring and loving families.
28 April - Outside for the first time this weekend - they really enjoyed romping around in the fresh air. Hardly feeding from mum now, just a bed time top up.
7 May - The time has flown by and the puppies are 7 weeks old today. Eveninghill May Blossom (Pixie) left us today to embark on a wonderful new life with a new mum and dad and two boys to keep her occupied and teach her how to behave. Let's hope that someone gets some sleep tonight.
8 May - Eveninghill Marchin Orders (Harold) leaves tomorrow morning. His new best friend will be a toy poodle - what fun the two will have. Eveninghill Marching Band (Ted) goes to his new home on Saturday and his new mummy can't wait. Good reports of Eveninghill May Blossom's first night away from home have been received - lets hope it continues.
12 May - Eveninghill Maybe Next Time (Hattie) is off tomorrow. This very lucky girl will be living with her Auntie Poppy, a two year old golden sired by our very own Eveninghill Murphy's Law. As she will be living near by it is hoped that we will see her on a regular basis and who knows we may even get the opportunity to show this beautiful girl. Although we are very sad that she is leaving, it was not meant to be, hence her kennel name.
14 May - The next puppies due to leave are Eveninghill March Of Time (Hank) and Eveninghill March Out (Tom). They will go to their new homes this Sunday leaving just Eveninghill March In Time (Arthur) to wait for his new owners return from their holiday on the Isle Of Wight. Eveninghill Mr Bojangles (Boris) has found a very special place in my heart and will hopefully join his grandad Eveninghill Murphy's Law and his mother (once she has regained her figure and coat) in the show ring later this year.
19 May - Just two puppies with us now. Today Eveninghill March In Time (Arthur) finally made it onto the chair in the kitchen, there will be no stopping him now.
1 June - Well we now have just our boy (Eveninghill Mr Bojangles - Boris) and what a week it has been. He has fitted in perfectly with the big dogs and most of the time he has been very, very good. He does have his moments of over excitement when poor Millie seems to be the subject of his teeth - her poor ears - and she has taken refuge on the settee. If only she could cast her mind back to her early days with us when Murphy was her pin cushion! Please watch out for updates on Boris and his family on Champdogs and our new website (coming soon) www.eveninghill-goldens.co.uk
