Champdogs Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do if I have forgotten my password ?

Use the Forgotten Password function which can be found by choosing the "Password" option on the Members Menu. Enter your Kennel Name in the form. Your Password and Kennel ID will be emailed to you instantly.

If you do not have email use the Contact Us option and we will send your Kennel ID and Password to you in the post.

How do I update my details ?

Choose one of the following options from the Members Menu:

  • Kennel to update your Kennel details and text.
  • Stud Dog to add Stud Dogs and to update your existing Stud Dog details.
  • Litter to add new Litters and to update your existing Litter Details.
How do I make my Kennel appear higher in the search results ?

There are a number of factors that determine where your kennel appears within the search results.

  1. Advanced Members are listed before basic members.
  2. Breeders who provide a link back to Champdogs from their own website are given a boost.
  3. The list is pseudo-randomly generated so no single breeder monopolises the top position.

If you have provided a link back to Champdogs from your website make sure that you enter the address of the page in the "link address" field of your kennel record. We will then visit the page and give you a "link score". A link on the home page will score more highly than one in the middle of a links page. The higher the link score the more likely you are to a higher position within the search results.

How do I link to Champdogs ?

Simply insert the following HTML into the appropriate page on your website:

  • To link to the main site :

    Champdogs - Pedigree Dog Breeders

    <a href="http://www.champdogs.co.uk/">Champdogs - Pedigree Dog Breeders</a>

  • To link to the main site using a banner:
    Pedigree Puppies

    <a href="http://www.champdogs.co.uk/"><img border="0" width="468" src="http://images.champdogs.co.uk/images/banner.jpg" alt="Pedigree Puppies" height="60"></a>

  • To link to the forum :

    <a href="http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk/">Champ Dogs Forum</a>

I have updated my page. Why can't I see the changes ?

You are probably seeing an old version of the page from your browser's cache. Press the "Refresh" or "Reload" Button and you should see your updated page.

What do I do with the photographs for my page ?

If you have them in electronic format then use the View option on the Members Menu to view your page.

Then use the "Upload Picture" links to upload your pictures. We currently can accept images in JPEG and GIF formats.

Why doesn't my litter of puppies appear on the Puppy Register ?

Each litter of puppies is reviewed before it is added to the Puppy Register. Please ensure you have entered the correct Kennel Club registration numbers for both the sire and dam of the litter.

Why don't my champions appear in red on my Stud Dog's pedigree ?

The program which formats the pedigree is quite particular. In order to highlight a champion in red, the name must contain either " Champion " or " Ch ". Please note that the case is important, as are the spaces on either side.

Why doesn't my website link work ?

This is usually because the website name includes two "http:\\"s. We add "http:\\" to the website name specified in your records. Remove the "http:\\" from your website name and it should work. If this is not the problem then double check you have spelt the name correctly.

Can I update my details offline ?

Yes you can.

  1. Firstly go to the appropriate page on the site.
  2. Disconnect from the Internet. (When you are connected to the internet there is normally a little icon in the bottom right hand corner of your browser. If you "right click" on this icon you should be given the option to disconnect.)
  3. Complete the form.
  4. Click on the "Update Button" and your browser should automatically reconnect you to the Internet.
"Cannot connect to db server" Error

If you receive the following error whilst using Champdogs:

"Cannot connect to db server. Lost connection to MySQL server during query"

Simply press the "Refresh" or "Reload" button on your browser and this should resolve the problem.

This error is a temporary condition that is usually caused when the internet is "busy".

My friend doesn't have internet access, can she join Champdogs ?

Yes. You may enter her details on her behalf and administer her account.

Why does Champdogs look better on my friend's computer ?

Champdogs looks best when viewed using Internet Explorer Version 6 or 7, with a screen size of 800 x 600 pixels or greater.

It will still work OK with other Browsers and other screen settings, but it will not be seen to the best of its ability.

What do I do if I still have a problem ?

Contact us, giving as many details as possible. Either use the Contact Us option or send an email to admin@champdogs.co.uk. We will contact you as soon as we can.
