Merlin was bred by Polly King of Foxpath Retrievers. His sire is a German flatcoat, Feltis von Rethwischhoh and his dam is Quiddelbach Hera of Foxpath. Both his parents are working dogs and Merlin has an excellent working pedigree with Staverton, Exclyst and Tarncourt lines.
Merlin gained his Kennel Club Bronze Good Citizen award at just six months old. He went on to pass the Silver award at ten months and the Gold Good Citizen award at 17 months. He is very biddable whilst at the same time being a typical fun-loving family pet.
Merlin was lightly shown in his first year and qualified for Crufts 2016 at the Bournemouth Championship show under Judge Mr David Hutchison (Waverton).
In addition to basic obedience Merlin has been training as a working gundog and passed his Kennel Club Working Gundog Certificate in August 2016. He and I are also competing in working tests. Merlin is a delight to train, very steady and soft mouthed.
Merlin's Eyes tested Clear for PRA, HC and gonioscopy. His Hips score is 2 - 2 (total 4) & Elbows: 0 - 0
His Kennel Club COI (inbreeding coefficient) is 1.6 % (breed average 6.7 %) and his EBV (estimated breeding value ) is -21
Merlin is available at stud to suitable, health tested bitches.
