The next weekend she takes Best Bitch and Best of breed at WELKS championship show. Thanks to breed specialist Keeley Newman-Jones.

Star Anise was born on 4th April 2014. I have named her Ruby after her grandmother. She is the daughter of Ava and Herlinga Herveus, a show champion and working gundog. I used Harvey for his size, coat and working ability. Ruby is fearless, bold and like her dam has a delightful temperament and good coat. She was swimming at ten weeks having decided it might be fun to retrieve a duck. She swims most days and at fourteen weeks was retrieving a puppy dummy from the lake.

At her first show at just six months (Gundog Society of Wales championship show) Ruby wins best puppy and then goes on to win puppy group 4 under gundog specialist Sharon Pinkerton. She wins best Puppy at Midland Counties ch show then Best Puppy in Show under gundog specialist Sue Harris at the HPRGA show aged seven months. She has continued to win Best Puppy and Best of Breed awards at open and championship level and won Minor Puppy and Puppy at LKA championship show at 8 months. At Manchester ch show she wins best puppy and then goes on to Best of Breed in an entry of 42 Wires. A huge achievement for a ten month puppy. By the end of her puppy career she has won BPIS, RBIS, RBPIS, 3 x group 1 and other group placings. She has come first in all her classes and takes BP at Crufts then is awarded Top Puppy 2014 by the HWVA and HWVCGB.
