Dave is the son of the top Rhodesian Ridgeback stud dog 2011 & 2012. He has been hip AND elbow scored with hips being an excellent 2:3; well below the breed average & elbows are a perfect 0. He is carefully home-bred with foreign grandfathers.

Dave excels in head type with plenty of substance & tight feet as well as being a balanced mover.

Dave is a joy to live with, a total clown who loves people & enjoys the special attention he gets on his trips to the pub! He has passed his gentle nature onto his offspring.

We aim to produce dogs that can move and make excellent family members as well as looking good in the show ring.

Dave attained his stud book number at 2, thus qualifying him for Crufts for life & has been well placed at Championship & Open Show level by breed specialists, all-rounders & foreign judges. A sample of his many critiques are below.

1 Hicks’ Nuthouse Manhatton, beautifully constructed dog of 7˝ years, at the top of his game, he has really matured into an outstanding hound! So well balanced standing & on the move with correct angulation, nothing overdone. Excellent bone & head planes with kind expression, correct round eye & ear carriage. Lovely reach of neck leading down into sloping & clean shoulders. Good deep capacious chest with correct infill of forechest & well ribbed back. Well defined hind quarters with good width of first & second thigh. Correct feet. Excellent level topline which was held while moving. He so deserved his third & crowning CC, congratulations! CC

Open class (no veteran) 2 Hick’s Nuthouse Manhattan, 7˝ years. One of our really good dogs who should have had his title easily years ago. Excels in strength & quality, a splendid head & neck with good forechest. Stands in perfect balance & correct ribbing heavier but reachy profile movement, spoilt sometimes by handler pulling back his head" Ann Woodrow

"VD 1 Nuthouse Manhatton, 7 years, athletic & houndy & full of breed type. Very good movement, good size & proportions. Typy in head but not as refined as the Open Dog but very close & won RCC, I hope he will gain his title, he deserves it." Frank Kane

"very strong hound but in no way coarse. Good strong jaw with good depth & width of between nasal bones, flat planes to head with correct step of stop. Strong topline with good length of neck. Well sprung ribs that are carried well back to strong loin, correct height to length. Good feet & bone with correct slope of pastern. Well angulated hindquarters which have strong hocks & are well let down. Moved free & low in profile & tracked up well coming & going. A good honest hound that could do its job of the type seen in the show rings 20+ years ago. CC, it was a shame that he went slightly lame in the run off for BOB due to a split toe nail." Lindsey Barnes

"Quality red wheaten with pleasing head & expression, good length of neck, superb outline with quality bone & correct angulation, moved with real drive as a hound should CC" David Seaman

"All male head, balanced angulations allow him to move steadily & with power, very well ribbed, bone so good & feet really tight. In stance he draws the eye as he scores in balance & flowing outline, head nicely proportioned, good eye shape" Albert Wight

"Substantial dog, with so much to like, very balanced in outline, lovely bone, good length of rib, strong topline, top mover, in super condition, overall sound boy" Jackie Parker

"Stunning boy with correct head, good earset, strong jaw, dark expressive eye, good neck into well laid shoulder, level topline, strong well made loin, good depth of chest & well ribbed back. Straight front, tight feet & quality bone. He has a good turn of stifle & well let down hocks & his muscletone is first class. He was as sound as a pound out & back with far reaching stride, shown in gleaming coat & condition he pulled out all the stops to win this hotly contested class. RBOB" Serena Parker

"outstanding, impressive strong masculine dog. Effortless on the move with drive and power. Excellent bone and substance presenting with excellent proportions giving balanced outline on both profile and front. Strong defined front with pronounced prosterum and good infill flowing into deep brisket, excellent ribbing and good length of loin. Hocks well let down, with tight feet and perfect tail set. Level topline with good croup. Strong masculine head yet with gentle expression. Demonstrated excellent temperament. Delighted to award him Best of Breed" Kate Lowson
