Kes is an extremely biddable bitch, she has been a very quick and keen learner. We competed in our first field trial when she was 15 months old and we came out with a C.O.M for our efforts, which was great as a lot of older dogs were put out. She continued to take another 3 FT awards out of a further 5 runs in trials, and has also gained awards in Open working tests.

Kes is a regular and indeed the key member of Nicola’s picking up team, together in 2003/2004 they fulfilled a busy calendar of picking up commitments to some of our local shoots and indeed have got many invitations further a field also thanks to her ability and keenness to get the job done. Kes is only a small framed bitch but she has great courage and has made some spectacular retrieves on large cock birds and hares.

Her greatest attribute must be her ability to trust her handler she will get out in the field on blind retrieves as far as any retriever, often further, and is very easily handled out onto retrieves. She has picked a wide variety of game and has not refused to pick anything. Blind retrieves, water retrieves have proved no problem and she is a great marker of the fall, the picking up has helped capitalise on this
