Bought my first Ridgeback in 1981 while living in South Africa: SHANDY was a wonderful companion & ambassador. Born in 1991, WHISKY was my African Gentleman & an excellent foundation dog. While Whisky was in quarantine in 1993, I sought a companion for him, but was blessed to find a perfect mate in RYE from the JANAK kennel. From our first litter in 1994, BEAUJOLAIS was a great show dog, sire of champions and my soulmate. I have always been animal mad and as a child always had a dog and in my teenage years bred mice, hamsters and rabbits. When I got married in 1968 I had my first pedigree dog a Labrador Retriever and a Jack Russell. My next dog was a GSD obtained from a breeder for Guide Dogs and my interest in obedience started. In 1978 My next dog was a Rottweiler which I hoped to do working trials. Injury to a hind leg curtailed all hopes of competing so my next Rottweiler I decided to show and got the bug. My interest in Deerhounds started about 35years ago and has only grown stronger with the years. I have not bred a great number of litters, but have been lucky enough to have bred a number of Champions. Ch Canerikie Kate perhaps the most well known as she was one of the first Deerhounds ever to go Best in Show at a General Chamionship show. We have been sharing our lives now with Rhodesian Ridgebacks for 10 yrs , we occasionaly Show and so far have been lucky enough to have been getting good results .
I have been training and working dogs for the last 27 yrs .
Our priorities lie in having sound tempraments and healthy dogs who fit well in to family homes , with us having young children we see the importance of healthy dogs and happy dogs even more so than before . Our dogs get to run in some of the most scenic places in Wales including costal and mountains .

I have owned and shown whippets for over 30 years and am currently campaigning dogs who carry the very best of the famous "Oakbark" bloodlines.

I don't get to as many shows as I would like, as my horses take up a huge amount of time but I do try to get to a few championship shows each year and am thrilled with the successes my dogs have achieved.

I was a founder member and the first secretary of the South West Whippet Club and am proud of the way the Club has gone from strength to strength.

I judge the breed at open show level.
