This is a sporting line which has always been bred as closely as possible to the breed standard while maintaining above average performance in the field.
They have been running competitively and shown since 1971, achieving top honours in both fields.
All my whippets are health checked regularly and I think their performance proves they are "fit for function". I like to keep in touch with my puppy clients and expect regular progress reports. Any Moonlake whippet can be returned to me at any stage of its .... (click to read more)

I was infact born into a Whippet household and was taken to shows when very young, sitting on benches at all breed open shows, next to Standard Dachshunds who barked a lot & frightened me to death!
From around 1974 to 1982 shows took a back seat, as my mother was unable to drive and was not able to get to shows.
Just before Christmas of 1978 a little Red fawn Whippet puppy, Nempnetts Red Kite ~ Zelda, had come to live with us after the loss of Springetts Tracie’s Maid ~ Tatty, the Miniature Poodle. Spring of 1981 came and we as children, asked if Zelda could have puppies, this was to .... (click to read more)

My first show dog, Pagan, a Dobermann arrived in 1985, closely followed by her half sister, Laura. Then a German Pinscher came in 1989 and my first Brittany, Annie, in 1993, although by no means my last. She was a beautiful show dog but was not suitable for breeding so her half sister, Macy, joined the household in 1996 and proved to be a wonderful show dog, brood and most of all a superb companion. Macy left us with wonderful memories and a broken heart on the 4th September 13 but her legacy lives on in Hazel, her great granddaughter and a great character. Ellie, the Whippet arrived to the .... • Penbriar Whippets
    Mrs Sue Gillespie

    Herefordshire

I've had Whippets since the mid-70's. Whilst living in Belgium I had the affix 'Briary'. I made up 5 Int. Ned. Germ. Belg. champions, 3 home bred. On returning to live in England, 6 years ago, I was not allowed to keep my affix, it became 'Penbriar'.
I only breed a litter when I want to keep one myself from a certain bitch. Health & good characters are most important. Bitches are PRA/ Cataract and heart tested before mating.
All puppies are born and raised in the house, though they do also have a very comfortable puppy house & run outside.
I share my house with 5 Whippets and a .... (click to read more)

My passion for dogs started as a child, growning up with German Shepherds, Dobermann's & Afghan Hounds. Then as a teenager I caught the showing bug, showing a friends poodles, both standard and toy. I have many years of experince working & training dogs both professionally and as a hobby. It is very important to me to own & breed dogs that are healthly with a fantastic sound temperment, along with being fit for function & have great movement.

My dogs are much loved pets, who enjoy an active life, regularly running free on the beach but also enjoy nothing more than a loving cuddle on .... (click to read more)

    Current Health Tests

Chelynnah Whippets is based in Poole, Dorset. Our pups are home raised and we breed rarely - only when wanting a pup for ourselves.

Health and temperament are very important to us in our breeding choices, as we know the most important job of any dog is to be a cherished family pet. Anything else they may do (ie show or work) is a bonus. All of our dogs live in the home with us as much loved members of the family, and we look for homes with a similar ethos.

We are Members of the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme.

  • Ragstar Whippets
    Mrs Rachel C Smith

I have owned whippets since 1996, when I became a committed convert to the breed! My first whippets were Bella, a Chyton bred coursing bitch who was followed by Foggy, a handsome Baldrey show bred dog.

I bought both dogs as unknowns, and was thrilled to see that both these kennels are well represented in various whippet books, and my dogs were 'good uns'. I became interested in breeding my two dogs together with a view to being able to show a pup from the litter - yes! I thought it would be easy...

I bought my first Whippet in 1990, after owning a Borzoi and various gundog breeds since the early 1970s. All my dogs live indoors as family and I aim to breed healthy, sound Whippets, only having a litter when I want another puppy for myself. They are well exercised and fed a natural diet. I am currently Secretary of the National Whippet Association and Health Co-ordinator for the Whippet Breed Council.

Wayhead Whippets have been founded on stock bred by my good friend Sally Fuller-Lewis of Elaphine kennels and so the pedigree can be traced back to her foundation stock over 40 years ago. They have always been bred for soundness and excellent gentle temperaments from show lines, which makes them so suited as first class pets.
All of our Whippets live in the home and are very much part of the family. Likewise any puppies that we produce are also home reared to make them well adjusted to continue living as a member of the family. Our aim is to produce good quality sound puppies with .... (click to read more)
