This is a sporting line which has always been bred as closely as possible to the breed standard while maintaining above average performance in the field.
They have been running competitively and shown since 1971, achieving top honours in both fields.
All my whippets are health checked regularly and I think their performance proves they are "fit for function". I like to keep in touch with my puppy clients and expect regular progress reports. Any Moonlake whippet can be returned to me at any stage of its .... (click to read more)
Our Lucky Boy (Oscar) is a KC Registered Blue with White Trim Whippet born in September 2013. He Stands at 22 inches to the shoulder and weighs 17kg.
Oscar is a cheeky chappie with an amazing personality. He loves cuddles and kisses and like most whippets will sleep all day after he has had his morning run. He is brilliant with children and enjoys playing with them in the garden.

We both grew up with horses and dogs and I used to compete in cross country until an injury finally forced me to give up riding. We started married life with our beloved lurchers and used to show and race them, competing at Chatsworth several times and even winning Best in Show. When Teagle and Thyme finally passed away we felt that we could not be without the "hound temperament" and as Thyme had been half whippet it made sense to have a whippet join our family and so we have now had whippets in our life and on our sofas since 2000.
Our dogs live within our home as part of the family .... (click to read more)

I have had dogs for 45yrs & am a member of the Kennel Club & an accredited breeder. I have won reserve Best in Show at Crufts. I only breed when I want something to show & I do my best to breed for conformation, movement & temperament as directed by the Breed Standard.
I have owned cross breed lurchers most of my life. Now after experiencing whippets, there is no way back. Truly the most lovable loyal and honourable dog one could own. The biggest problem you will have apart from them stealing your favourite chair, is the fact once you have one, one will not be enough.

Bought my first Ridgeback in 1981 while living in South Africa - SHANDY was a wonderful companion. Born in 1991, WHISKY was my African Gentleman & an excellent foundation dog; then I was blessed with a perfect mate in RYE from the JANAK kennel. From our first litter in 1994, BEAUJOLAIS was a great show dog, sire of champions and my soul mate. We have enjoyed much success in the showring; essentially, our dogs are happy pack members who have taught us the importance of leadership & understanding. Thomas started showing Rye @ CRUFTS when he was only 4, but he needed a smaller dog of his own; .... (click to read more)

Welcome to 'Torbers' a very small and select Whippet show kennel based here in Cornwall.
All my dogs live as spoilt! family members in the house, very much pets first and foremost.
A little bit of my history within the dog world..............
I have been fortunate to have been working with dogs from a very early age, firstly with the family Dobermanns who were all shown also they were very accomplished in the Working Trials area of competition. This always went against the old adage "working dogs and show dogs don't do well out of their respective fields of .... (click to read more)

I have had whippets or lurchers since I was a child. My mother bred a few litters under the Twiggen affix in the 1970s (including the very good coursing bitch Twiggen Waterwitch, and her equally accomplished brother T Watergate). I am currently owned by three whippets: my old man Diver (Moonlake Walks On Water) and his great-niece Tealeaf (M Mercedes) have recently been joined by Tealeaf's son Trilby (Tit for Tat). I believe strongly that the perfect whippet should not only look good, but should be demonstrably fit for function, and Tealeaf has more than fulfilled that brief. Despite being ....
