    Poole
    Dorset
    Current Health Tests

Chelynnah Whippets is based in Poole, Dorset. Our pups are home raised and we breed rarely - only when wanting a pup for ourselves.

Health and temperament are very important to us in our breeding choices, as we know the most important job of any dog is to be a cherished family pet. Anything else they may do (ie show or work) is a bonus. All of our dogs live in the home with us as much loved members of the family, and we look for homes with a similar ethos.

We are Members of the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme.

    Devon

    SOME BACKGROUND

I have been breeding dogs for 40yrs and began in the seventies under my old affix of “Marcrest”

I started when I was 12yrs old with a neighbour’s German Shepherd. Having been given a German Shepherd puppy for my birthday I was hooked!!

I bred my first litter when I was 16 and had my first judging appointment when I was 19. I decided I wanted another breed as well as the Shepherds, so in 1974, acquired my first American Cocker bitch.

I went on to show and breed American’s for many years. I then decided to have a complete change and bought my first .... (click to read more)

  • Westview
    Joanne Mclauchlan
    Newcastle Under Lyme
    Staffordshire

My first fond memory of whippets was in the 1980's, when my parents brought a fawn girl named Tilly. She was so loyal and affectionate. It wasn't until 2008 when I was fortunate enough to own my very own whippet called Tigger, from Pencleave Whippets. I am so lucky to have her, she has done very well in the show ring, gaining a Best in Show at open level and 4th at Crufts 2011. Due to her lovely temperament, she is also a qualified 'PAT' dog and visits schools, where young children read to her. She comes everywhere with me, holidays are just great.

We pride ourselves in owning, and occasionally breeding whippets that are capable of holding their own in the showring, are a pleasure to live with being sound physically and mentally, and are able to do a day's work if given the opportunity. All the Linalkins hold at least the bronze KC Good Citizen's award. We have also recently been whippet racing, a pastime which we hope to repeat as it was so much enjoyed by both whippets and humans.
