Bought my first Ridgeback in 1981 while living in South Africa - SHANDY was a wonderful companion. Born in 1991, WHISKY was my African Gentleman & an excellent foundation dog; then I was blessed with a perfect mate in RYE from the JANAK kennel. From our first litter in 1994, BEAUJOLAIS was a great show dog, sire of champions and my soul mate. We have enjoyed much success in the showring; essentially, our dogs are happy pack members who have taught us the importance of leadership & understanding. Thomas started showing Rye @ CRUFTS when he was only 4, but he needed a smaller dog of his own; .... (click to read more)

Welcome to Richclass Whippets
We very occasionaly have litters but when we do we breed for type, quality and eligance to maintain quality in the breed.
We started showing whippets in October 2011 and in this short period of time we have achieved some brilliant results including a Reserve Challenge Certificate which means the world to us and is a dream come true.
We wish to continue working hard in and outside the ring so that we continue with our success and achieve greater outcomes.

Whippet owners and breeders in a family home.
Wayhead Whippets have been founded on stock bred by my good friend Sally Fuller-Lewis of Elaphine kennels and so the pedigree can be traced back to her foundation stock over 40 years ago. They have always been bred for soundness and excellent gentle temperaments from show lines, which makes them so suited as first class pets.
All of our Whippets live in the home and are very much part of the family. Likewise any puppies that we produce are also home reared to make them well adjusted to continue living as a member of the family. Our aim is to produce good quality sound puppies with .... (click to read more)

We both grew up with horses and dogs and I used to compete in cross country until an injury finally forced me to give up riding. We started married life with our beloved lurchers and used to show and race them, competing at Chatsworth several times and even winning Best in Show. When Teagle and Thyme finally passed away we felt that we could not be without the "hound temperament" and as Thyme had been half whippet it made sense to have a whippet join our family and so we have now had whippets in our life and on our sofas since 2000.

I have had whippets or lurchers since I was a child. My mother bred a few litters under the Twiggen affix in the 1970s (including the very good coursing bitch Twiggen Waterwitch, and her equally accomplished brother T Watergate). I am currently owned by three whippets: my old man Diver (Moonlake Walks On Water) and his great-niece Tealeaf (M Mercedes) have recently been joined by Tealeaf's son Trilby (Tit for Tat). I believe strongly that the perfect whippet should not only look good, but should be demonstrably fit for function, and Tealeaf has more than fulfilled that brief. Despite being .... The first Beksam puppies were born in the 1960s when my parents, Joy and Arthur Ford bred their first litter of Boston Terriers. In the early 1970s we bought our first Bearded Collie and I went in to partnership with my parents. We bred, showed and loved our Beardies for many years. In fact, in 2004 we lost our last girl after 35 years of happy Beardie ownership.
We bought our first Whippet in 1981 and I was hooked. The Whippets are still my first love. They share our home and hearts with Mabel, an elderly Miniature Schnauzer.

A little bit of my history within the dog world..............
I have been fortunate to have been working with dogs from a very early age, firstly with the family Dobermanns who were all shown also they were very accomplished in the Working Trials area of competition. This always went against the old adage "working dogs and show dogs don't do well out of their respective fields of .... (click to read more)

My first show dog, Pagan, a Dobermann arrived in 1985, closely followed by her half sister, Laura. Then a German Pinscher came in 1989 and my first Brittany, Annie, in 1993, although by no means my last. She was a beautiful show dog but was not suitable for breeding so her half sister, Macy, joined the household in 1996 and proved to be a wonderful show dog, brood and most of all a superb companion. Macy left us with wonderful memories and a broken heart on the 4th September 13 but her legacy lives on in Hazel, her great granddaughter and a great character. Ellie, the Whippet arrived to the ....
