The Kelshanti Kennel was established in 2007 with our first litter from Polly (Africaner Sahara Sunset). The Kelshanti Kennel originates from the Hespa lines owned by Mrs Gillian Craven.
In August 2007 we started showing two puppies from Polly's litter, both did extremely well. Zula had a litter in 2010 and two of them are now showing. All our dogs live in our house, they are very spoilt and remain very much part of our family.

I have owned dogs for the last 30 years, starting with Labradors and more recently Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Once you get a Ridgeback you get hooked. With a fabulous temperament and love of life they make the most loyal of companions. Easy dogs to have around the house as they have such a lovely short fine coat. They are a very loyal dog to their owners.
I occasionally let my bitches have a litter which i really love doing, its so nice to breed quality puppys and promote the best qualitys of such a lovely breed.
I always do the health tests and look for a handsome dog with a good .... (click to read more)

We were delighted with our previous litter of chunky healthy puppies. All puppies were ridged with correct bite & no kinked tails.

Sire & dam were both hip AND elbow scored; both excellent scores well below the breed average.

The puppies had an inbreeding coefficient value of 0.7% well below the breed average of 5.9% (the higher the % the more inbred they are).

All puppies were checked for dermoid sinus by ourselves, a vet & other experienced breeders. All have been vet checked & regularly wormed.

They were born in our home and are kept in our home , meeting lots .... (click to read more)

We first encountered Ridgebacks in 1989 during a trip to South Africa but, for all sorts of reasons waited 20 years before 'switching' to this wonderful breed. My wife and I are both professionals with busy working lives so needless to say we adore the companionship, loyalty and endless hours of fun that we get from our pair who have recently produced a beautiful litter. The dam is absolutely adorable - demure yet fiercely protective. The big guy on the other hand is so laid back that he can sleep standing up - until, that is, he sees a rabbit and then all hell breaks loose! Wish we hadn't .... (click to read more)

My family moved to South Africa when I was a child and that is where we were first introduced to this stunning breed. Forty odd years later and I still would have nothing else. My pack consists of Milo 8 ½ years, Kara 3 ½ years and Jazzie who is 2. They are always pet dogs first!

When I was lucky enough to find Kara I decided to dabble in a bit of showing – and have never looked back! I now show Kara and Jazzie and we love it and they have both qualified for Crufts every year! However, they are still my gorgeous pet dogs and have been brought up in a normal family household and are a .... (click to read more)

Hi, My name is Karen Thompson. I live in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England with my husband Steve and our four children. I have shared my life with dogs since I was a child owning quite a few different breeds. We decided on a Rhodesian Ridgeback as the breed to add to our family in 2010. We were won over by the breed characteristics and have never looked back. They are an intelligent, mischievous, loyal, brave, dignified and sensitive breed and make a cherished family member.

I purchased my first Rhodesian Ridgeback in 2007 after breeding Labradors. Having looked after puppies I had bred for clients when they went on holiday the word went round and I ended up looking after a gorgeous boy and fell in love with the breed.

I bred my first litter in 2009 and kept a lovely bitch to breed from. My girls live with my husband and I and 3 children (now all nearly grown up) in Surrey and are adored by all of us.

They are true to Breed Standard and have wonderful temperaments. They love nothing more than bounding around the Surrey Hills where we live and .... (click to read more)

Bought my first Ridgeback in 1981 while living in South Africa - SHANDY was a wonderful companion. Born in 1991, WHISKY was my African Gentleman & an excellent foundation dog; then I was blessed with a perfect mate in RYE from the JANAK kennel. From our first litter in 1994, BEAUJOLAIS was a great show dog, sire of champions and my soul mate. We have enjoyed much success in the showring; essentially, our dogs are happy pack members who have taught us the importance of leadership & understanding. Thomas started showing Rye @ CRUFTS when he was only 4, but he needed a smaller dog of his own; .... (click to read more)

We have proudly kept Rhodesian Ridgebacks for over 15 years and are very passionate about this fantastic breed. We bred our first litter of puppies in 2012, having since received nothing but incredible feedback from puppy owners complimenting their dogs temperament and outlook on life. Not only do we have quality dogs with super bloodlines and fabulous temperaments, they also have the conformational excellence to have passed the recommended Breed Club and Kennel Club health checks with very pleasing results, well below the breed mean average.
