    Our affix is ‘Lignum’, derived from the Latin Lignum Vitae, meaning ‘tree or wood of life’. The Lignum Vitae tree is a hardwood, often being black and tan in colour and is extremely durable.

    Having both grown up with a menagerie of animals, including horses, dogs, cats, alpacas and various feathered friends, in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside, life will never be complete without a dog or two (or six) in our household ;)

    Benbuie Gordon Setters are bred for their type, soundness and, most importantly, their temperament to ensure that they are 'Fit for life and fit for function'. They display the charateristic noble head with soft expression desirable in the breed.

    I have owned Gordons for over 30 years and bred them for at least 20 years and am proud to have bred a number of Show Champoins not only in England but also on the Continent.

    We have owned Gordon Setters for 26 years and have bred one full champion and four other CC and RCC winners.
    Our dogs are pets first and foremost but we do show and all our dogs work - we are part of a small grouse counting team and regularly compete in field trials and do occasional shoots.
    All of our dogs are health tested, for hips and eyes and are DNA tested for PRA Rcd4.
    We only breed occasionally and only when we wish to keep a dog ourselves.

    Thank you for viewing our site. We are a small breeder who have owned Irish Setters for more than 35 years and Gordon Setters for the last 10+ years. We only have occassional litters when we want to have another puppy for ourselves. We offer life long support to all our puppy owners and enjoy the continued updates from them. We show our dogs at most championship dog shows and local open shows with success from time to time.

    My life in Gordon Setters spans over 35 years now and in this time I have had the pleasure of owning and breeding some beautiful dogs. I have been a Kennel Club Assured Breeder for many years now and I am a life member of The British Gordon Setter Club and The Gordon Setter Association and am also a member of The Gordon Setter Club of Scotland.     Diersett has been home to English Setters for over 35 years and Gordon Setters for over 30 years. We only breed Gordon Setter litters very occasionally and all our puppies are born & raised in the house and are extremely well socialised before going to their new homes.     Chartan was founded by Inkersall Kirstie (Breeze) way back in 1975 and we have always strived to produce dual purpose puppies, on the way competing in obedience, agility,working trials and field trials as well as breed shows. I am proud to have bred and worked the 1st Gordon Setter bitch to have qualified CDex.
    I hope to continue to produce sound Gordons, who look good and can do the job and be a loving companion too.

    I have lived with dogs all my life and grew up with Newfoundland’s which my parents bred and showed.

    I was 14 when I first saw a Gordon Setter at an Agricultural show and fell in love instantly knowing that they were the breed for me, much to my parents dismay!

    I took home my first Gordon male ‘Wesley’ over 15 years ago and decided that to learn more about the breed I decided give showing a go.     I have owned and shown Gordon setters since 1999 and have bred three litters, which have produced show champion Birchgarth Fools Gold with Lourdace (who is the mother of the top winning Gordon setter of 2014 & 15 Sh Ch Lourdace Fulcrum) also International Champion Birchgarth Foolish Moment and two other puppies gained their stud book numbers. My dogs are firstly pets and occasionally shown. I am hoping to breed a litter in 2016 from Flair (Lourdace Flair for Birchgarth) who is litter sister to Lourdace Fulcrum.

    Jose has shown and owned Gordons since 1975. Having bred 30 Champions, the Lourdace kennel is renounded internationally as one of the top kennels in the breed. David Alcorn has been involved with Gordons for around 15 years, most notably with Sh Ch Lourdace Fulcrum JW who was Crufts Best of Breed in 2015 and 2016, has 30CC's and is five times a group winner.

    Our first Gordon Setter joined us in 1999, “Oscar”, Aldabrook Wizard of Oz. Oscar was brought as a pet and we knew nothing about showing but after some gentle encouragement from Pauline Quarterman we enjoyed 6 great years of showing Oscar. In 2000 “Fraser” Aldabrook Fraternal Fella joined us, my loveable rouge and tramp as he became known as, was not a show dog, preferring to stay at home. After the loss of Oscar in 2006, “Callum” Aldabrook High Hopes came to keep Fraser company as he just could not cope being on his own having only know life with Oscar.

    Owning English Setters for many years, I was lucky enough to own my first Gordon Setter in 2000. since then I have bred 4 generations of Gordon's which are loved dearly and live in our family home.
    Whilst I lightly show my dogs and have had excellent results in the show ring, my dogs are first and formally family pets that like nothing better than long walks on the local beaches, moorlands and fields.
