I started my involvement with Setters when I had an Irish setter her breeding being mainly the famous Wendover lines. In 1979 I registered my affix, LAURELHACH and followed this with a Gordon Setter.
I first gave CCs in the breed in 1995 and have since awarded them on several occasions including the pleasure to award them at the GSA Championship Show in 2005. In April 2006 I judged the breed at the Gordon Setter Club of NSW in Australia, Sydney and was warmly welcomed by the exhibitors who presented such sound Gordons of all ages for me to appraise. We have owned, shown and bred Gordon Setters for the last 18 years, and although our kennel name was granted in 1999, we have actually owned gundogs for over 35 years.
Our love for Gordons started when we had our first back in 1997. Nothing can compare with being owned by this wonderful breed, albeit sometimes feeling like you own a family of clowns !!

During this time we have been very successful showing our dogs with most of them gaining their stud book numbers which entitles them to life qualification at Crufts. We are so proud .... (click to read more)

We have owned Gordon Setters since 1997 and we are members of The Gordon Setter Club of Scotland, The Gordon Setter Association, The British Gordon Setter Club and The Gordon Setter Field Trial Society. Our dogs are both worked on the moors and shown in the show ring, they are dual purpose dogs and they take part in life to the full. We work on the moors as part of a counting team, occasionally as part of a shooting team and we also compete in Field Trials on Grouse. Our current dogs both have their Gold Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme awards and they do well in the show ring.

Amscot Kennels is one of only a handful of true dual purpose kennels in the UK, meaning the Gordons are capable of working on a grouse moor or on partridge / pheasant at the highest level, being shown at Championship level in a show ring and making excellent pets. Many owners have come back to replace their beloved Gordon when it passes on. That is the highest recommendation I could have.

I bought my first Gordon in 1983 and now have my 8th generation direct line descendants to that original Gordon.

I have bred, owned and campaigned the first Dual Champion Setter in UK history. .... (click to read more)

I have always lived with dogs and have bred very occassionaly to keep a puppy (springer spaniel). In 2009, I was introduced to Gordon Setters at Lowther Country Fair and was smitten! This beautiful breed, with its silky black and tan coat, flying feathers and elegant movement, was imprinted on my memory. Two years later my faithful old Springer died and I recalled the Gordon Setter. After much research, a suitable puppy was found in Dorset, and she was brought home to the Ribble Valley. Freya is very well bred with American and Australian lines, and shown lightly. She lives in our home with .... (click to read more)
