I've owned and reared many different breeds of Dog.
In 2008, I rescued Ru (Ruperts Gold Boy), a working Golden Retriever. Ru was an unwanted gun dog. He had no life skills and his first year with us was hard, whilst he learnt about life. I quickly fell in love with the breed and their loving nature.

Ru was a registered pedigree dog and I found a new litter .... (click to read more)

I first started in Goldens in 1984 under the affix of Cardrona. I took a break from showing and breeding in 1998 but the love of this wonderful breed lured me back in 2004 under the affix Flaxengold.

My dogs are of the utmost importance to us and live in our home as part of the family.

We dont breed much now as I prefer to campaign my dogs in the show ring.

I and my family of Golden Retrievers along with 'Tamu' the Basenji live within two miles of Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain.

I have been owned by Goldens continuously since 1975 and before that owned a Beagle, adding a Basenji in 1978, who was my first real show dog. With my first Golden I competed in obedience and agility and started showing my second Golden in 1985. 'Ramble' won a Reserve CC at two years old and later became a Champion when I moved to Germany on marriage. We got our first golden Retreiver Sherrie in 1984 while serving with the army in Germany Sherrie then accompanied us on a tour of Cyprus. When we returned to the uk in 1988 we got our second golden Mac with whom we had a go at showing. His showing career was short lived due to cronic hip dysplasia. We were then joined by a year old rescue golden Oscar he had some behavoural problems that were soon sorted out. When Mac was a puppy I had met a lady with a wonderful bitch puppy at a show (Langsett Midnight Romance) and I went home and told John I had met the mother of my next show dog. Almost 6 .... I was until recently a Kennel Club Assured Breeder, having joined at the beginning of the scheme. I passed the inspection in December 2013. I resigned because the scheme falls short of my expectations. . I have had owned Golden Retrievers for 47 years. . Our dual purpose dogs are regularly exhibited with consistent success at both Open and Championship shows and enjoy picking up on the local shoot during the season. All of our dogs have the required KC/BVA health tests, hip and elbow scoring and annual eye testing. We are very fortunate to have 12 acres of our own land, consisting of paddocks .... John used to show and breed Golden Retrievers over 20 years ago for approximately 7 years. He was relatively successful with Seruilia Si Senor at Eldersfield JW, Serrest Society Scandal at Eldersfield JW and Eldersfield Egalitarian. Personal circumstances resulted in a lengthy absence from the breed but we now have Seruilia Society Gossip at Eldersfield (Saisha) and Sandgold Hollyberry of Eldersfield (Mikka) and are actively showing with a modicum of success.

It was 1980 when I bought my first Golden Retriever, Sweet Alysum or Sally as she was known. Right from the start she settled into life at home with my very active 3-year old daughter and the two quickly became inseparable. Sally lived a full life and to this day we still remember her with great fondness.
