As lifelong dog owners and lovers, we discovered the wonderful Flat Coated Retriever breed when Bramble came to live with us in 2012.
We live in the beautiful Scottish Borders, with its fantastic forests and rivers on our doorstep - a lifestyle that any Flat Coated Retriever would be delighted to revel in.
Bramble is bred from a combination of UK and Scandinavian lines and she has turned into a fantastic family companion who is great with children and other dogs.
We do not have any plans for future litters, as we are just normal family dog owners who happened to choose to breed from .... (click to read more)

Kulawand Retrievers was founded in 1973 by Robert & Sandra Lane. Both Bob and Sandy worked with and had a love of animals from their formative years. Bob worked as a jackaroo in Australia for several years working with horses, cattle, sheep and cattle dogs. Sandy owned and trained collies. In the 1970s, just after their daughter was born, they lost their last collie and decided to have a retriever that was more in keeping with their new family; and thus started 38 years of owning, breeding and showing Golden & Flatcoated Retrievers. We have owned flatcoats on and off for over 35 years and recently we like to breed a litter each year from one of our bitches. We enjoy bringing the puppies up and making sure they have the best start in life. We have kept in touch with many of the pups with their new owners and they visit from time to time which is always a great
treat for us. We also breed show and performance horses.

We only breed when we want a new puppy for ourselves to bring on and train. We still have 10 year old Purdy mother of Ria and grandmother of the puppies. She is still fit and healthy and also tries to "mother" the puppies although like all grandmothers can walk away when she wants to.
