Kulawand Retrievers was founded in 1973 by Robert & Sandra Lane. Both Bob and Sandy worked with and had a love of animals from their formative years. Bob worked as a jackaroo in Australia for several years working with horses, cattle, sheep and cattle dogs. Sandy owned and trained collies. In the 1970s, just after their daughter was born, they lost their last collie and decided to have a retriever that was more in keeping with their new family; and thus started 38 years of owning, breeding and showing Golden & Flatcoated Retrievers. Today the Kulawand Affix is a three way partnership with .... (click to read more)

Flat coated retrievers have always been my absolute favourite of any of the gunfight breeds. They are full of life, have a charming character and are truly dual purpose dogs. Above all else they soon fit into everyday family life.

We have several generations' worth of Flat Coat experience and a love for the 'Peter Pan' of the dog world that has led to our decision to whelp a litter. Our family pet, Broomsward Alice Temperley, has been sreened for Hip Dysplasia and her eyes tested for glaucoma and has excellent results for both tests. The parents of our litter have been carefully chosen for temperament, health and type, as we aim to breed Flat Coated Retrievers that are in keeping with the breed standard.
