We are a small kennel, specialising in longhaired weimaraners, generally breeding to retain a puppy for ourselves. Our dogs are essentially pets who are shown, with some success.
We have owned Weimaraners since 1996, and bred our first litter in 1999.
All our breeding stock complies with any relevant KC health scheme, hip scoring in the case of Weimaraners.
All our puppies are precious, and will only go to homes assessed as suitable. Throughout their lives their owners will have our full support.

Darrowdale is a small kennel, with multi-purpose gundogs - pet, show, working, agility, Pets as Therapy, Pet Blood Donors.

My first spinone, Spitewinter Alla Prima was made up to Show Champion the summer after her litter (which produced Darrowdale Delight and Darrowdale Devotion - the start of my kennel). Darrowdale Delight currently has 1 CC and 3 RCCs, Darrowdale Devotion is the Spinone UK Top Open Show Bitch 2010.

All my gundogs are trained to the whistle (to varying degrees of obedience!), and several work on a couple of shoots throughout the season.

We got our first Labrador in !974 and had our first litter in 1976 the year our Affix Waterbrook was granted by the Kennel Club. Our 3rd litter in 1983 produced our 1st Champion Waterbrook Bugsy Malone. We are only a small kennle breeding only when we require a puppy to carry on our lines and to show. All breeding stock go through hip scoring and eye testing. We have had in the past dogs with stud book numbers and at the moment we have Charity with a reserve CC and Charm with her Junior Warrant. Dogs of various breeds have been part of our family for over 40 years, living with us on a fruit farm. The most important quality for us, whatever the breed, is to have a kind and loving temperament as all of our dogs have been reared with our children and now our grandchildren. We often retain 1 puppy from each litter as over sentimental about parting with them!

After many years competing in obedience with crossbreeds and puppy walking for Guide dogs,it was decided to get our first Flat Coated Retriever in the late eighties.
Gemswin was born ,we breed for type and more importantly temperament,with the view that most of our puppies are placed in pet homes.
All our dogs here are hip and eye tested and only the soundest are bred from.
All our dogs live in the house , have lots of free running in glorious rural hertfordshire and generally enjoy life...a lot!

We are based in the lovely village of Layer Marney on the outskirts of Colchester in Essex. We acquired our first German shepherd from the Akir Kennel in 1986 and our first Border Terrier in 1992.We applied for our afix of 'SHIRCAR' IN 1994.
Both Geoff and myself passionately love our dogs and we breed first for health, temperament and good looks. We bred our first litter of sheperds in 1993. We now have our own stud dog that we acquired from Anita Guy at the Marinita kennel called Kaiser, many thanks to Anita for breeding such a beautiful boy with a nature to match.
