Hunters Croft’ is the home of Achouffe Gundogs and Border Terriers. We are a small, select, unassuming and yet successful Kennel where all our dogs are shown and worked throughout the season. Collectively for over a quarter of a century we have bred and made up Champions, bred/owned ten UK KC Stud Book entries. Weimaraners are our first love and Julie was privileged to rewrite the 'Breed History' books by owning and handling the first Weimaraner to take the highest Group placing of G2 at Crufts in 2000, it really was the greatest of beginings to the millennium.

We are a small kennel based in the Lake District. All our dogs live in our home and are part of our family. We show our dogs at Championship Shows and have one home bred Champion.
We only breed when we would like to keep a puppy ourselves therefore we only very occasionally have puppies for sale to approved and suitable homes only.

We have a 4 year old Hungarian Vizsla bitch, Leksi and a 3 year old Border Terrier bitch, Tess. Both dogs have lovely friendly natures and are very affectionate pets. Both are bred from showing and working lines but are kept as family pets by us. They get along very well, even sharing the same bed at night. They are walked together and Tess manages to keep up no problem, although covers a lot less ground than Leksi. Both dogs are great around horses and livestock.
I had bred Chocolate labs for nearly 20 years but my two remaining girls are now retired. For my old age I bought a border terrier - Bonnie. I have had two litters with Bonnie and have kept one from each litter Treacle and Toffee. All my terriers have lovely temperaments and I always choose a sire with a similar temperament, this is most important to me.

I have been showing dogs since 1985 and registered my affix in 1988. My original breed was Chinese Crested, but I only breed border terriers now. .I have bred champions in both breeds and I award CCs to both.
Serious puppy/stud enquiries should telephone me in the first instance, on either of the phone numbers given.

Dogs have been part of all our lives, I grew up with them, so did my husband and my children became involved in showing dogs from an early age.
We started with Boxers - we still have a very elderly Boxer in residence sadly she has since passed away (she gained her stud entry at a very early age) and 3 stately Briards, of whom, Sophie our own breeding went on to gain 2 cc's and 1 rcc.
We still show her now and again and there is nothing she likes more than
to roll around in the mud once she's back on home territory. ( sophie has since passed away RIP Sophie )

Ive had Terriers over 30 years, but didn't get our first Border till 2012. Started showing Libby in Minor Puppy and got the show bug all over again.
I showed Stafford's over 15 years ago with a home bred dog. Macy had numerous wins at Champ show level, but unfortunately he injured his cruciate ligament and that ended his show career very early.
