The Dajean pack of Teckels. photo by: s tomsett | All my dachshunds live together indoors, as you can see, from back, Teckel, Toby, Tia on left, and Tango. I am trying to breed to the correct size and standard and hope to show in the future. Temperament will always come first though as this is most important for a pet. Teckel was my first miniature dachshund, although I bred a few standard smooths some 30 years ago. She has produced Tia to Ch. Wildstar Wedgewood, who has a beautiful coat, and is only 9 1/2lb. I had a lovely litter of pups from her to my new boy Soletrader Just Jack for Dajean, who I hope to show in 2009. Tango, although slightly too big for the ring at 11 1/2lb is a very well-put-together bitch with a wonderful nature and I hope to have pups from her to Jack in November 2008. Toby is my little star, the friendliest dachshund you could wish for, he is now proven and stands at stud to approved bitches alongside Jack. |
Soletrader Just Jack for Dajean photo by: G. Robertson | Jack has only just recently come to live with us and he is fitting in well. He has now been proven, Tia has had pups to him, so he is available at stud, to approved bitches only. He has the most wonderful reachy neck and length, true, level topline and excellent drive at the rear. I hope that he proves to be an asset to us. |
Shelley's Dajean Kennels have a 24 year history of breeding top quality dogs. Although starting with Bullmastiffs (achieving Top-Breeder twice and breeding the top winning bitch in the breed, along with numerous champions and CC winners) we are now concentrating this expertise mainly on a smaller breed, namely Miniature Wire-haired Dachshunds, and aim to produce quality, good-looking puppies with excellent temperaments. We also keep dual-purpose Labradors and hope to show our new pups later on. We are breeding for; Type, Temperament and Soundness, believing that all are necessary to produce a healthy, friendly dog thats looks the part and fulfills the need for a companion dog while still capable of performing its original function. Our pups are born and reared in our house in the Norfolk countryside alongside our three young children and other dogs. They are introduced to the outside world at 6weeks, to meet our livestock and learn to toilet in the right place, this means they are housetrained very easily. If you are looking for a friendly, happy, healthy family dog that still knows what it's job is and looks beautiful too, this is what we are striving to breed.
