We have shared our lives with Rottweilers now since 1986 when our first Rottie moved in and took over our lives. From that moment we were hooked, and our lives have revolved around the dogs ever since. Our numbers steadily grew after our first litter in 1990. Then in 1992, we were joined by our first Pembroke Corgi. In the beginning, we were hooked on the show scene too, but for over 10 years now, our own business commitments have meant that showing has been reduced to the odd show perhaps a couple of times a year - just so that people dont forget out faces!! When time permits, we tend to spectate more than show nowadays - less stress involved I think.

We have occassional litters - normally when we want to keep a puppy ourselves. Our current Rottweiler range from just over 10 years old to 7 months old, incCuba and Phoenix who are now amost 3 years old. We then aquired the 'Dozer' or as he is known at home - Dozey - and if you met him you would see why! Despite this he has qualified for Crufts at all but 3 of the Championship Shows that he has been to and as of 2006/2007, has never been out of the cards when being exibited. He recently took Best Puppy and Reserve Best of Breed at Chesterfield Open Show in December 2006!
The latest additions to the family are Keri & KoKo, born in September 2006, we await to see if they will make it to the showring or more to the point if I will!
When we breed our main priority is temperament and health.
We want our puppies to go into permanent loving family homes where they can stay for life and lead a full family life.
All of our Rottweilers are hip scored, and we only use hip scored stud dogs, normally also dogs that we know well so that we know the temperaments of them, and that they match to our own superb tempered girls!!

This was Cuba at 12 weeks old - she is typical of the puppies that we breed - although I think she is a little bit too clever for her own good at the minute. She is cock sure, and so laid back. We really dont know that we have her around the house. She is a pleasure to live with - a very gentle and affectioate animal who has produced a beautiful litter for us in 2006. She is the mother of Keri & KoKo.
The following link shows Mia, one of the Rottweilers that we bred from Dallas (Rottwud Killala) & Harry in Jan 2006, who has been on GMTV and other news stations on countless occassions. She was on GMTV on June 3rd 08, and then with Natasha Kaplinsky on her News program. Copy and paste the link and see her for yourself:

Her owner Ryan, is editor of K9 Magazine. Mia is litter sister to Rottwud Harriette - our Polly! |

As well as Rotts, we share our lives with Pembroke Corgis. We breed the very occasional litter of corgies. We have four corgis: Harley, who is mother to Gemma, and then we have Vinnie - the 'gobbiest' dog in the house. Typical little dog! We have qualified Vinnie for Crufts in the past, and hope that we can do the same this year.
We certainly are looking forwrd to Showing his new daughter - Red. UPDATE: RED has qualified for Crufts at her first Championship Show! Well done Red! |
****************************IMPORTANT INFORMATION*************************************
As from April 6th 2007, the new Animal Welfare Act 2007 came into force in the UK. This new Act means that the Docking of ANY dog’s tail is illegal unless it is a working gundogs or a forces dog. Anyone who is looking for a puppy of a customarily docked breed will not be able to purchase one with a docked tail that is born after 6th April 2007. Anyone who is offered a puppy that has been docked that was born after 6th April 2007 - my advice to you is DO NOT PURCHASE IT! The docking is not legal and you may well have problems getting veterinary care for the animal. Any Dog that is docked after this date must have certificates from the vet that it has been docked and must be micro chipped before you purchase it. Any dog that is docked after this date will not be able to be shown at a Kennel Club event including Crufts - see the Kennel Club website, the Council of Docked Breeds website and the DEFRA website for full details of the Animal Welfare Act and its affects on all dog owners. For those of you who are looking for a new puppy after this date, before you purchase one, make sure that both parents are hip scored and that the breeder has proof. Make sure the puppy is Kennel Club registered and that the papers are available for you at the time you collect your puppy.
Most reputable breeders will always include with your puppy: Food for several weeks, along with treats and toys that the pup is used to, in order make the transition from the breeder's home to yours as stress-free as possible. They will provide you with a comprehensive diet guide and information guide with instructions on future care and worming etc. They should provide all the required Kennel Club Registration Form (which itself will verify the parents Hip Scores) and most now will have the appropriate Kennel Club Endorsements in place on the Kennel Club Registration Form. They should provide you with a written 'Contract of Sale' which both you and they will sign and have a copy of, which must include that they have explained the endorsements and under what circumstances (if any) it is agreed that the endorsements will be lifted.
There are many reputable breeders who are not going to breed immediately as the new Law has come into force and this may open the doors to some unscrupulous breeders taking advantage and breeding from poor quality parents and not having the necessary health checks etc in place, yet they may try to charge over the odds prices due to the lower availability of puppies. DO NOT BUY A PUPPY IN HASTE. Please read up on the breed and its health problems as much as you can, see a few litters and speak to different breeders - even those who do not have litters at the current time BEFORE you purchase a puppy. You are often better to discuss with different breeders what you want from a Rottweiler and if necessary - go onto a waiting list for the dog that is right for you and from the breeder that you are most comfortable with.
For those people who do not want a Rottweiler or Corgi with a tail - then whatever breed you choose will more than likely have a tail, so you must remember that if you love the breed - the loving, loyal, noble Black & Tan Rottweiler - you do not love it just because it has no tail - you love the animal as a whole- there will just be a little more of it to love.
You must also remember to move all of your ornaments up and cups etc off the coffee table as a rottie tail can clear it with one sweeping wag ...... perhaps purchase a cabinet for those more expensive trinkets!
***************************PLEASE NOTE*********************************
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO WE SELL OUR PUPPIES TO BE EXPORTED FROM THE UK - EITHER BY OURSELVES OR ANY OTHER PARTY. The endorsements we place on the Kennel Club registrations prevent the puppies from being exported and the contract of sale will fully explain this and you will have to sign a legally binding contract that you will not export our puppy.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A ROTTWEILER OR A CORGI TO LIVE IN ANY COUNTRY OTHER THAN THE UNITED KINGDOM, THEN PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT US AS WE ARE NOT WILLING TO OVERTURN THIS DECISION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
