Stairfoot

This is my first GSP Sh Ch Inchmarlo Fodhla (Max) who I bought from Nora Sladden in June 1976. I was extremely lucky with Max as I had no idea how to show a dog properly but managed to make him into a Show Champion before his third birthday. Max was one of the gentlemen of the breed.

To his credit he sired Sh Ch Firhouse Scabious in 1979 and Ch Lochpointer Benje in 1980. He was then mated to Hillanhi Vyatka, my first bitch. Between them they produced FT Ch and Ch Stairfoot Sobrig and Stairfoot Svenna.

I decided to get another dog to keep Max company. This time I bought a GSP from Ian Sladden - Inchmarlo Drumduan. Drum had a brief show career obtaining a RCC but he was an excellent working dog. He was mated to Hillanhi Vyatka and they produced Stairfoot Seapod who, to me, epitomised everything a GSP should be.

Sh Ch Inchmarlo Fodhla was mated to Hillanhi Vyatka to produce Brig. Fortunately Brig was bought by Phil and Wendy Pepper. Wendy showed him winning Best In Show at both the GSP Club & GSP Association Champ Shows in one year. Phil did the really hard bit, training him which resulted in Brig achieving the accolade of Dual Champion, a title which only 9 GSPs have ever attained.

This is Pod, my perfect GSP.

Pod only ever had one litter from which I kept Stairfoot Spida.

The Stairfoot kennel was established in 1976.

To start my showing career I decided to acquire a Pointer solely because I liked the look of them. I went to an Open Show with a friend and saw Ian Phillips with Dunpender Kate. The Pointer was instantly forgetten as I decided the GSP was the only breed for me. Ian pointed me in the direction of the Inchmarlo Kennels - Ian and Nora Sladden. I chose a lovely dark liver and white ticked dog puppy bred by Nora - Inchmarlo Fodhla (Max). In 1980, I decided Max & Drum needed a girlfriend & consequently I bought Hillanhi Vyatka from Jean Bates - one of the prettiest GSPs I had ever seen, a real character.

I am a Championship Show judge qualified to give tickets in GSPs & GWPs, & for the first time in July 2006, Weimaraners.
