Ollie (foreground) and Rosie aged 8 weeks - Rosie is still with me and is adorable, and I get regular email updates from her brother who is spoilt to death! This was my first litter by an outside dog, Annavah Macbeth, and I am very pleased with them. The personality is superb.

I have owned and bred dogs for 43 years, have been breeding Westies since 1992 and registered my affix in 1996.
I became involved in Greyhound Rescue in 1972, specialised in large breeds such as Dobermanns, Great Danes and Rottweilers in the 1980's (most Rescue kennels were not rehoming these breeds at this time) and found myself living with 12 Dobies and 5 Danes, all of advanced age or uncertain temperament - ie officially 'unhomeable'!
I had bred odd litters of pups such as Yorkies and Jack Russels during this time, mainly to help fund the rescue dogs, but hadn't found a breed I liked a lot that I knew didn't have a major rescue problem and would therefore be ethical to breed.
I stumbled on Westies by whelping a friends bitch and falling for one of the puppies - this was Poppy who was my foundation bitch.
I eventually decided to get my own affix and stud dog, so along came Alf, aka Limasmythe Mo's Magic in 1995, (who was destined to not be a housedog - stud dogs must be smelly and unruly - and has spent his life either on the bed or the best corner of the settee..)
The affix Vansarvee came from the name of a light aircraft I was closely involved with which was a Van's RV6.
I gave up rescue around 1995 and my giant oldies gradually passed away leaving me with just the Westies.
I usually have one or two litters a year, although having moved 2 years ago to a glorious 10 acres in Dorset I am hoping to maybe do a bit more with the dogs and horses and less in an office!
I have three stud dogs, although Alf is sadly officially retired now, the other two are Eric (Moon Whisper of Vansarvee) and Giles (Vansarvee Crispin).
I seem to manage to keep a pup out of each litter, but I am going to try and stop for a while!
I don't show my dogs but I do try and keep them true to type, and I value temperament and soundness above all else. All my dogs have impeccable temperaments, even though they are not used to small children they are wonderful with visiting ones, great with other dogs and the postman..visitors are in danger of being severely washed !
I vet my prospective homes very thoroughly, and match individual pups to the homes by personality on both sides - must be doing something right as I get lovely letters, emails and pictures from happy dogs (I think their people help with the typing)
Litters are born and reared in the middle of a big open-plan kitchen and sitiing room, so are used to all the sights and sound of everyday life. They spend a couple of weeks on the stable yard later on, with room to play and lots of funny big dogs poking their heads over the door and blowing on them!
I worm regularly from 2 weeks, they are KC registered and there is a choice of the KC 6 weeks insurance or I also offer a policy from The Dog Breeders Association of which I am a member.
I provide extensive written information regarding diet, worming, trimming, training etc, and undertake to also provide lifelong help and advice to the pups new owners.
They are also provided with starter pack food.
