- Wire Haired Dachshund
Deri & Daisy by Revestreken's Kolja
Woops the wind stole an ear!
Friends sharing - they do have one each!!
We are the very proud owners of two imported KC registered working Wirehaired Dachshunds. They are imported as we were unable to find suitable registered dogs available here in the UK.
We have become totally captivated by these charming, intelligent, cheeky and loving little dogs and would now not be without one. Unlikely - as, as I write, we have seven puppies in the utility room. We have no claim to fame and having looked at the illustrious company on this website I have to confess I have questioned myself as to why I am doing this at all!
We have used a lovely show dog to our bitch and our hope for this litter and for the future is to breed a WHD that is capable of both working and winning in the show ring.
Deri our older bitch is a brilliant tracking dog but lacks the quality and refinement needed to be a top show dog (we equally lack the finesse needed for the ring!) Hopefully the dog we have chosen will impart some of his lovely features, in addition to his outstanding temperament on our puppies and maybe one or more will be a star of the future in the ring and also of the hills and forests.
This is our ultimate aim.
Daisy the younger, is more quality and if we can get ourselves up a gear we think she may well do well in the showring. If our gearbox fails we may have to recruit someone more experienced to do the job on our behalf rather than let the dog down!
Primarily both our girls have fantastic temperaments, a real credit to the Dachshund breed and if they were neither to work again they could just as well enjoy life going for a good walk and spending the rest of their days sunbathing or playing 'who's couch is this anyway'and entertaining us with their captivating characters.
We have registered as a breeder as we try to do things properly - success does not always follow we know, but we will enjoy trying and most of all enjoy our wonderful Wirehaired Dachsies.
I am quite hopeless with a camera but am working on the principal that if I keep trying I will eventually improve but would ask that you do not judge our lovely ladies by my photos alone.
We would just like to add a big thank you and good luck to all the wonderful families who have given new homes to Deri's first litter of puppies. The pups were amazing and we were so very blessed to be contacted by six (actually more who we are so sorry we had to disappoint) lovely people wanting to take on a wire haired dachshund. We are in touch with them all and everyone seems delighted. Thank you all again.
Needless to say we could not possibly let them all go and are now a Dachshund family of three - Bramalodge Alice pictured above by Fransin Brasilian TP Panettone - thank you also to Stewart McPherson and Peter Paterson for the use of their amazing Tony. It will be Daisy's turn next and then doubtless we will be four!!
