Sandwick was established in 1983.
We are based in the small rural Shropshire town of Market Drayton where our small number of dogs live as part of our family as pets first & foremost enjoying normal, happy lives. The dogs are occasionally shown as family life allows.
Emphasis, as always, is placed on breeding quality dogs of excellent construction and breed type whilst maintaining the unique temperament & intelligence that the Sandwick dogs are known for. Puppies are all lovingly & completely home reared - used to the hustle & bustle of a busy family homelife and come microchipped & health checked by our vet before leaving us. Lifelong aftercare and advice is freely given as standard.
The health & temperament of our dogs & puppies is of high priority. Dogs are tested under the necessary KC/BVA schemes & current/new DNA tests are/will be used to full advantage to try to ensure happy, healthy dogs fit for purpose. The Sandwick temperament is renowned for happy, intelligent Shelties who make superb family pets, show & agility dogs.
The kennel has seen some changes along the way with the affix changing hands between former partners Joanne & Chris, both singly and in partnership on 4 occasions over the years with the most recent being in 2008 when a separate interest in the affix was offered back to & accepted by Chris - this is how Sandwick goes into the future.
The kennel has been moving forward steadily for the last few years laying new foundations for the future using the original bloodlines. The results are very pleasing with a sound foundation of youngsters now here.
I am honoured to judge Shelties at Championship show level.
The Sandwick prefix is also known for British Shorthair Cats (sadly no longer from 2008) and I have successfully bred/owned Champions, Best of Breed, Best of Variety & Best in Show winners.
