Welcome, Lynne, Colin & Sarah Richardson hope you will enjoy looking at the photos of the dogs and if we can help you with anything 'Doggy', please feel free to contact us. We live in a small town in South Wales called Bridgend, which is approximately 3 miles from the coast. There are 2 humans and 7 canines who share the house.
The prefix comes from the hotel that Lynne & Colin stayed at on their honeymoon in 1970 in Majorca. We have shown Cocker Spaniels, Great Danes, a GSP, Skye Terriers and Cesky Terriers. Lynne and Colin have been showing Skyes for 25 years, albeit with a short break of 4 years in the late 80's and early 90's.
We originally started showing 32 years ago with a tricolour Cocker Spaniel bought from Alf Collins of the world famous Colinwood Kennels. We showed Cockers with reasonable success for about 15 years. We also had Great Danes which we showed with some success at both championship and open show level. We were founder members of the Great Dane Club of South Wales and Colin was the original breed club secretary and is approved by the K.C. to award C.C’s. in the breed. Sarah now owns Dennis the Menace, aka Auldmoors Ask Me Another at Talyot. He has done well in his puppy classes and is continuing his winning ways as an adult.
The 3 Skye Terriers plus the 3 Cesky Terriers keep us busy and we have done well with both the Skyes & the Ceskys . Our Skyes have won Best in Show(twice) at the Skye Terrier Club championship show in 2003 with T.Dionysis & the first time being Ch Talyot Chloe who was owned by Jill Spanner. We have also won Reserve Best in Show and Best Puppy in Show at the Skye Terrier Club's Championship shows.
On the 23rd September 2006 we lost Ch Talyot Dionysis JW, (Dudley), He was a truly great dog in every sense, both at home and in the show ring. We will never have another like him, he was ‘a one in a lifetime’ dog and we feel honoured to have had his company for so long. Always the ‘quiet man’, he sired 9 champions in the UK and abroad, including 3 who made it as top dogs in the UK & the USA. One son, Am. Ch. Gleanntan Geewhillickers has won more BISs than any other Skye dog in the USA. He has 11 grandchildren who are champions. Not bad for a dog that was lightly used at stud. In 2005 his granddaughter T Genevieve was made up and in early 2006 T Illiadd gained his American title.
Our current show team consists of Ch Talyot Genevieve ShCM, our 4 year old light silver Skye bitch. She has won well at both championship and open shows. She finished her Championship at WKC in 2005 under the breed specialist Peter Chappell of the world famous Mariquita Kennels. Genevieve has been very lightly campaigned in 2006 and will be shown in the Stakes classes from now on.
Our lovely cream young lady Talyot Jasmin has won well as a puppy and as a Junior. Lizzie has 1 Reserve CC to her credit which was won at South Wales Kennel Association in July 2005 under reputed Terrier Group judge Billy Brown-Cole. She is now resident in Boston MA. with Kathleen Brodie and will be campaigned in the USA in 2008.
Abroad we have several Skyes who have achieved considerable success in the show ring. In the USA, Dai the Skye (Am.Ch.Abbeywater Athamas at Talyot) was born on the 5th August 1999. He was bred by Cathy Green out of her bitch, Mariquita FlashXtatique of Abbeywater, Dudley was his dad. Dai has been campaigned in the USA during 2002 and was top Skye Terrier (Breed Points- Pedigree). Janet Weiss is his co-owner with Norina Evans and Lynne.
Just prior to his going to the USA, Dai won the Reserve Dog CC at Paignton & DFA Championship Show in July 2001. He returned to the UK in November 2003, where his is enjoying a well earned retirement. He does have the occasional outing and in July 2004 & 2007 he won a RCC at Paignton show.
Other progeny from Dudley in the United States of America include, Am.Ch. Gleanntan Gee Whillikers a.k.a. Michael and Am.Ch.Gleanntan Gee Whizz a.k.a. Julie. We were the first to send chilled semen to the USA we used Dudley and the result was Michael & Julie who live in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania with Ben Dale of the Gleanntan Skye Terriers. They are silvers who have done well on the American circuit. Am.Ch.Gleanntan Gee Whillickers (Michael) has won 9 Best in Shows and numerous Group 1 placements and other group placements to his credit. He is the top winning Skye Terrier dog of all-time in the USA.
Also in the USA is the latest Talyot American Champion, Talyot Iliadd. He is a 4 year old dark silver boy ex TAlyot Hortensia by Ch Perrylands Defender. His co-owner in the USA is Janet Weiss. He recently won 2 Group 1s
In Canada Can.Ch. Talyot Gormanghast (Titus) is owned by Dr Richard Meen. He is a cream dog and is litter brother to T Genevive. He was #3 Skye in Canada in 2002.
In Holsbeek, Belgium lives the silver bitch Int. Ch Talyot Diadora with Solange Vanderlinden of the Lynsidemore Skye Terriers. She is Ch. Talyot Dionysis' litter sister and displays the same marvellous temperament. The bitch was mated to Ger. & Int. Ch. Silver Shadow of Morningsky and had 6 puppies in May 1998. The cream bitch Lynsidemore Xalice at Talyot is in the U.K. with us, but her litter sister Muron and litter brother Wallace have made their mark on the European show scene. Wallace has now some 12 titles. Her mum, Int Ch Talyot Diadora, has been campaigned to her Belgium title.
In 1999 we lost Talyot Cleo, she was sparingly shown as she was a real ‘home bird’. A daughter of our foundation bitch Rhosneigr Blonde Beauty at Talyot, by Nordic & Int Champion Drewsteignton Arlanda. From that litter came 1 champion and 2 other Skyes with Challenge Certificates and Reserve Challenge Certifcate. Cleo was a marvellous brood bitch and the mother of 2 champions and the grandmother of a further 2 American champions. Her grand daughters Lynsidemore X-Alice at Talyot and Ch Talyot Genevieve carry on the winning way. Her greatest legacy is her superb temperament, which she has passed on to her progeny, totally trustworthy and absolutely bombproof.
In 2002 we lost Cleo’s daughter Esther a clear cream bitch who had won 1 CC and 8 RCCs. She produced our G & H litters which carry on the type, temperament and construction of their forebears.
CESKY TERRIERS
We must not forget our Cesky Terriers especially our first, Dylan the ‘pesky’ Cesky, a.k.a. Pendevour Dylan at Talyot amongst his achievements was winning Reserve Best in Show at Bristol DC open show; one of a select band that have won one of the top awards. He also took Best Imported Register Dog at Leeds Championship show in 1999, numerous Best Imported Register at open shows and Best Imported Register puppy on several occasions.
Amore Amore Talyot (Amy) is Dylan’s daughter and she was top Cesky bitch in 2002 and also top Cesky puppy in 2002. This bitch has really made her mark in the championship showring where she has competed and won top honours at breed level and in stakes classes. She has been campaigned under both breed specialist and all-rounders.
She has produced 2 litters of very typey puppies who are doing well in the show ring. Her latest puppies that are being shown are Talyot Damocles and Dancing Diva of Pendevour(aka DD) owned by Norina Evans. DD has already won 3 BOBs and was pulled out the the final cut in the puppy group at Birmingham National championship show.
Talyot Beatrix, Amy's daughter has carried on her mother's winning ways, a real show girl. She has a daughter (Talyot Camille) that has started her show career and is owned by David & Linda Burrage. Camille is starting to win well.
Our very exciting young male Talyot Damocles. aka Dan the Man has been shown sparingly this year due to the personal illness of Colin. He has managed to win 2 Reserve Best Dogs and a Best Puppy. He will be further campaigned this year.
