DAKOTAMALS

I have had a lifetime of interest in dogs and owning them for some fifty years.As a child my father owned Spaniels,until my first dog a Rough Collie.Mark and I have owned Long Haired German Shepherds together in the past for twenty years.We did our research on Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes for two years, until our first Alaskan Malamute came to join us 9 years ago,our Astrid.Showing for 8 years and working for the last 7 seasons.We currently own five Alaskan Malamutes,Astrid (Snowolf Star of Excellence at Dakotamals) is the oldest at nine years,Chinook (Zeelukzak Magic Moment ShcM) and Billy (Zeelukzak Bilbobagins)are seven years old, they are litter brothers,they work in harness together,live together and are currently showing together! Dizzy (Sheperdsway Dizzie Lizzie at Dakotamals) is six years old,our newest addition is Misty (Zeelukzak Aurora Mist at Dakotamals) is just 3 yrs old.We are members of AMWA,SHCGB,BSHRA,SDAS,AMCUK,ABSA also members of the AMHL of America.We have a permit to train the dogs at Thetford Forest ,which we make the most of ,weather permitting.All our dogs are part of our family and live in the house along with our five cats! For the first time in 2008 Mark, Chinook and Billy took part in the 25th Aviemore Rally taking overall 7th place for D2 Mals.Aviemore is a fantastic opportunity to take part in the Uks biggest Sled Dog Race.We have both also attended many Breed Seminars with the AMCUK, Mark passing his Hands On Breed Assessment in 2006.Chinook and Billy have now both got their Stud Book Entry qualifying them for Crufts for life. Chinook also gained his Sch Merit very quickly, in April 2009.We are dedicated to the breed, firstly they are much loved members of our family, along with our four elderly cats who all live together,their welfare and happiness is our goal.This breed is not your average dog,however ,we certainly love everything about them.We waited a long time to be able to offer an Alaskan Malamute a home with our old Shepherd Hugo,often entering into this breed ,becomes life changing to many Alaskan Malamute owners.We have now been in the breed for 9yrs,we are constantly learning more about the Alaskan Malamute breed through friends and our own Pack.
