TUDORCOURT MARK (Teal) Lady Bower Lilly (Ellie) The Mob - Snipe (left), Ellie (back), Teal (right) | | Neil and I have both been brought up in the countryside and have spent our lives with dogs, horses and other domestic and farm animals.
I owned my first pure bred labradors 15/16 years ago, Ben & Holly (brother & sister), yellow labradors; although house pets they came from a working background. I have always been interested in gundogs and enjoyed watching them work.
Sadly Ben developed a very aggresive cancer in his lung and died very shortly after it was diagnosed, so I was left with Holly who became withdrawn and lost without out life long mate. A few months later I acquired a black labrador puppy from Ridgeway Labradors. Snipe gave Holly a second lease of life she sadly died at the age of 14 years approximately 18 months ago. Snipe is now 4 half years old and is trained as a gundog, I've competed in a couple of novice working tests with him and last season he went picking-up for the first time.
When I first met my husband Neil, he had a little Boxer called Roxie, but since being together he has also become very interested in the working gundogs and enjoys shooting. Just over 2 years ago, we acquired Tudorcourt Mark from Ridgeway Labradors, they were winding down their breeding programme due to family and work commitments. Teal is a trained gundog, and experienced proven stud dog, he's also very much a man's dog and totally loves Neil to death, hence the only time he'll work for me is if Neil's not around. His sire is F.T.Ch. Baildonian Baron of Craighorn and dam is F.T.W. Calfountain Gypsy Rose.
Teal is a handsome, strong, sturdy type dog who stills very much enjoys his days out picking-up in the season. So far this year (2008) he has covered two bitches. His first litter for 2008 was born in March, second litter with Ellie were born on the 17th May and they are all stunning lovely black pups. He's also Snipe's sire and he's a stunning strong dog.
Lady Bower Lilly (Ellie) we acquired from someone in Sheffield, back in May 2007. Ellie was quite a timid dog, we've spent a great deal of time giving her lots of TLC and gaining her trust. She's now 2 years old and has come on leaps and bounds; she's a fast, a quick learner and showing possible field trials potential. Her sire is F.T.Ch. Millcottage Pathfinder, 2005 IGL Champion, winner of Retriever Championship 2005, IFT Champion and 2007 Irish KC Champion Winner, her dam is Lochmuir Ally.
So to date, we have three lovely labradors and I must not forget Rosie the Cairn (she's boss), all our dogs very much live as part of the family. As we are only small we will only have the occasional litter.
We fully support all health screening and our dogs are hip and eye scored. They have excellent temperaments and very good pedigrees. |
