I have owned and loved dogs all my life and a few years ago fell in love with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. They are such a loving easy-going breed and also very pretty! A couple of years ago I added to our family with 2 Pugs too. They are naughty, funny and adorable!
I am a hobby breeder and all my 6 dogs live with my family and I in our home (no outside kennels). I am concerned with the health side of breeding, although I would like to breed to show too. Two of my Cavaliers have been spayed because they have health problems including retinal folds and I do not want to pass this on to pups! One of my Pugs will also be spayed soon as she has an hereditary eye condition and luxating patellas and these are things that shouldn't be passed on to offspring!
My Cavalier, Lily, who we have bred from has been heart and eye tested clear and we make sure that we only mate her to heart and eye tested dogs too. After her recent litter she will now have a rest from breeding and carry on being our beloved pet.
We have shown our youngest Pug, Mindy, at some local shows and she has even come first (why not? She's gorgeous!) She has lately been taking agility classes because she has springs in her feet and can jump really high. She absolutely loves it and we are going to continue with this. |
