we had been looking for a family pet for a while both of us had kept german shepherds in the past but knew that we couldn't have another as we did not have the space for it so we decided on a smaller dog and we decided on a stafford, after weeks of looking in the papers and on the internet we finally found a local breeder that had one pup left from a litter He was 3 months old. When we went to see him the breeder she told us why he had been with her for so long that he had orriginally been bought and the owners had change their mind so thats when we decided he would be coming home with us. After a few days of trying to think of a name we decided to call him Mutley because of his background .We were talking to the breeder and she suggested showing him we had'nt thought of it but decided to give it a go and took him to handling classes.Then his first show i think i was more nervous than him,into the ring we went i was shaking so much that forgot everything but mutley knew exactly what to do and to our surprise he had second place and that was the start of his show carrer.We hav'nt been to many shows but mutley has always been placed our greatest moment was in Monmouth show when he had his first ever 1st place the tears were flowing from myself and his breeder who has become a great friend and advisor for both of us .After owning this lovable rougue for a year we thought about having another stafford to keep mutley company so yet again we started searching for a pup .We found one at Drehelygstaf in EbbwVale so went to see her and bought her straight away as she was so quiet we thought her personality would suit mutley great .We went back to collect her 3 weeks later and mutley loved her from the start.Again we struggled to find a name for her but after looking at her we thought about winnie as she looked like a grumpy old woman with all the wrinkles that she had.When Winnie was six months old we enterd her in WELKS which was her first champ show and mine and she had 4th place we were both delighted . Winnie was supposed to be our show bitch but due to starting our own business we hav'nt had the time to show her.Hopefully both our dogs will be back in the show ring in the near future but for the moment we are just enjoying them both
