Chartan was founded by Inkersall Kirstie (Breeze) way back in 1975 and we have always strived to produce dual purpose puppies, on the way competing in obedience, agility, working trials and field trials as well as breed shows. I am proud to have bred and worked the 1st Gordon Setter bitch to have qualified CDex.
I hope to continue to produce sound Gordons, who look good and can do the job and be a loving companion too.
We now have a field trial awards too! Chartan Purple Patch (Hazel) was awarded a Certificate of Merit at the Scottish Field Trial Society's Novice stake 10th August 2008. She has also been awarded a 2nd in Novice at Yorkshire Gundog.
Hazel, (Chartan Purple Patch) has now added to her field trial awards by winning the CC (Challenge Certificate) at the Gundog Society of Wales Championship Show in October 2009.
From her litter by Show Champion Kilnrae French Mustard . we have Chartan Moonshine Merlot (Ted) who has had a fantastic start to his show career and has the most calm friendly temperament. I am immensely proud that he is now a Show Champion! His sister C. Oyster Bay (Tiggi) is much more outgoing and naughty but possesses the potential to do well in the show ring and as a working dog - if we can find the brakes!
Their sister in Hungary , C.Renato Ratti (Ratti) is proving to be an excellent working dog, who has her hunting certificate ( not yet 2 yrs old) and will retrieve shot game to hand as well. Ratti also has 2 CACIBs to her credit from the show ring. Tracy Byford's C.Summer of Dubhagusdonn has a Certificate of Merit and now her daughter Chartan Luna Lovegood of Dubhagusdonn has also got a Certificate of Merit in a field trial. From an entirely different litter the liver and tan dog C. Inspector Gadget owned by Clare Hinsley was award a Certificate of Merit at the Gordon Setter Open Breed Stake! he also now has a Certificate of Merit award in Scotland and another Certificate of Merit down in the Spring Trials on Pheasant, showing his versatility. Not forgetting Ned Champion Chartan Brooklyn. We now have 3 more field trial awards. My lovely Coco (Chartan Hermione Grainger) has been award a 2nd in a Novice Trial (Northern Counties) in March (2015) and then a 3rd in a Novice trial in the Summer. Her Daughter Chartan Treacle Tart as well as having a very successful show puppy career managed to get a 3rd in a Puppy Stake August the 5th, just 11 months old! Well, after a very successful start to the field trial season, both Coco and her Daughter now have 5 field trial awards each and our both now qualified to compete in Open stakes. Topaz is a joy to live with and is showing potential on the working side..
