Ghibli at 18 months, December 07. Ghibli had just been awarded Top Afghan Junior 2007. The top junior award (Afghan Hound Year Book annual points award) is won by having the most wins at Championship and Breed open shows throughout the year, with BP, CC, RCC, BOB, group and BIS awards also counted towards the total. Any dog that was under 18 months old on January 1st 2007 was eligible for this award. Ghibli has given us an amazing ride in his first year of showing, he finished his puppy career mid year as joint top puppy in breed, and finished 2007 Top Junior in breed. He won a double Junior Warrant, won his first CC & BOB from Junior at 15 months old under breed specialist Jill Cross (Gilari), and finished that amazing day in the hound group shortlist. The following week he won his first RCC. he went on for the rest of the year unbeaten in classes ranging from junior to postgraduate. In 2008 he sired his first litter of 7 puppies.

Banba was 4 years old in this photo. In 2007 she won her way through to mid limit in her classes and won her first CC. She has been a consistent winner at Championship and Open show level, with many 1sts, BOB, BP awards. Banba has a feisty, wicked and very affectionate temperament, she is so cheeky and such a thief!! I would swear she understands every word we say and we constantly have to spell things out, however, she is learning to spell!! Banba comes from the multiple top breeder, Saxonmill. her sister is top Afghan bitch 2006/07 and her half brother is top Afghan 2005/07, her mother is top brood bitch ALL BREEDS 2007. All 5 Afghans in Banba's litter being regularly shown have won CCs and RCCs and there are two champions. Banba's father is INT/MULTI Dan/Swe/Nor/ Lux / N. Klub DK/Ger (VDH) /Ger (DWZRV)/Dutch/Fr/Bel CH Boxadan Grandpa Lives Forever, Top Afghan Male Denmark 97/98/99. Her Grandfather and GreatGrandfather (who is doubled in her pedigree) are also both Int/Multi Champions and both World Winners.

Ghibli is a complete character! He is a clown, with a superb, loving temperament and great show attitude. The best part of the day for me is seeing him go completely daft when his dad comes home, he kisses him to death and then gives him a good telling off for leaving home in the first place using the sweetest doggy talk. I absolutely love showing him, it is the best experience in the world. I also absolutely love living with him, I miss him too much if I am away and cannot bear to be away from him for too long, he is my hearthound.

Ghibli's pedigree shows great strength in depth. Ghibli's mother comes from a litter of four champions including herself, and his grandmother also comes from a litter of 4 champions including herself. Ghibli's grandfather is the top producing, top sire 05/06 Ch Wilbus Libretto, he also comes from a litter of multiple champions. Ghibli's pedigree doubles up on UK CH Saxonmill Rum Tum Tigger (Cookie), Crufts CC winner 97/98/99 (18 CCs), Cookie also comes from a litter of multiple champions and is a top producer with many champion progeny. Ghibli's pedigree doubles up again on Cookies father, UK/IR Ch Karaburan Jelly Roll Morton, Crufts BOB winner and sire/grandsire/greatgrandsire to many champions. There are four lines back to Morton in Ghibli's pedigree and he has inherited his breed type and exciting, springy, ground swallowing movement. The depth in Ghibli's pedigree comes from UK successes, with dogs in his pedigree having been awarded 52 UK CCs between them.

Banba is happiest on a grass surface, she feels the daisies beneath her feet and just comes to life. She is wonderful to show, because she is so full of herself. She loves the dramatic gesture of tossing her head and looking round to see if everyone is looking - typical of her temperament, she thinks she is number 1 and who are we to argue!

Cubanba are a very small 'kennel' in the beautiful university town of Lancaster, on the edge of the English lakes. Our dogs all live in our home as part of the family, we have no kennels! They have daily free access to our large garden and the use of a 2 acre enclosed paddock for their free running. We also free run our Afghans on Morcambe bay sands. Our Afghans have also taken part in Afghan racing and lure coursing. They are multi-purpose hounds - see our website for photos and video!
