LOCKENNA

LOCKENNA OLYMPIC FLAME (Monty) Hunting on our local shoot.

Monty has proven to be a steady hunting dog. He regularly goes out with me beating in the shooting season. He has also done very well in the Show Ring acheiveing Top Puppy in breed 2001.

He sired 2 lovely litters in 2006 of which we have kept a bitch from each.

Castlefenny Last Waltz (Ivy)

Ivy is from Monty's first litter. She has been lightly shown due to my own work commitments and her training Regime ready for the Setter & Pointer Field Trials in Spring and Summer 2006.

She ran her first Field Trial in April 2006 in Suffolk and ran very well. Then followed Summer Trials on Grouse. Two Trials and thought worthy enough to go through to the second round both days.
We also had 2 days up in Scotland Grouse counting for the first time, with both Ivy & Dixie both worked very well and some fine coveys were counted.

Ivy is back in the Show ring again, winning YB under Diane Ritchie. She is also continuing her FT training for Spring Trials.

Coveys Delight by Lockenna (Dixie)

Dixie has been doing exceptionally well at Championship Shows, winning 6 out of 8 Best Puppy in Breed to date.

She is also in training for the Setter & Pointer Trials next Spring, and is showing a great deal of promise in both.

Dixie has more Field Trial Breeding behind her, and her Grandmother is currrently the first IRWS to gain her International Field Trial Champion Title. Hopefully her grandaughter will follow in her footsteps.

PHOEBE is our Working Cocker Spaniel. She will be out this season for a few appearances in the Shooting Field.

She is a hard working, very loyal attentive little girl, and loves nothing more than hunting rabbits. A litter is planned from her late 2008.

LOCKENNA is a small kennel aiming to specialise in Dual Purpose Irish Red & White Setters. I started in the breed in 1991, with my first show dog Hyndcroft No Surrender at Lockenna. Coolfin Kassidee at Lockenna followed the following year, both of them males. It was another 6 years later before i bought my first bitch Taxus Mrs Twitchit at Lockenna, who was to become my foundation bitch. A litter was born in 2000 from Libby & Ollie and we kept Monty - Lockenna Olympic Flame. He was Top Puppy in Breed 2001, and has acheived 1 CC, 2RCC's to date, and is the sire of both my two bitches Castlefenny Last Waltz with Lockenna (Ivy) and Coveys Delight by Lockenna ( Dixie), and these two will be the future of LOCKENNA R&W SETTERS. Dixie is doing very well in the show ring at the moment, has won 6 out of 8 Championship Show Best Puppy in Breed. Currently i have 3 R&W Setters all used in the working field, and also regularly shown. All three have proven to be good specimens of the breed in the show ring, with some very good achievements in the field also.
