Breeders of:

  • Leonberger

My name is Caroline and I have had the Tanyvska affix for many years. I live with my partner, Mark and my son, Phil.
We currently live with four Leonbergers, a crossbreed and a very small, fairly feisty cat.
All the family "live in" so we have a sometimes very muddy and hairy house and a well exercised Dyson.
We brought home our first Leonberger puppy, Mica (Saljay one Step Beyound at Tanyvska), in March 2000. Mica was bred by Sally-Anne Sandalls and is now 11 years of age and still very full of life. Michy has qualified for Crufts for life and has her Bronze Good Citizen Award
When Michy was about two years old we brought home Oskar, aka Wozzy, (Kitarn Secret Revelation by Tanyvska), bred by Richard Kinsey, a lovely boy who was unfortunately taken from us in an accident at just over two years old.
We went back to Richard who had recently done a repeat mating of Wozzy's mum and dad and picked up Baloo aka Boo (Kitarn Chutzpah of Tanyvska). Boo is a UK Champion and has his Bronze Good Citizen Award.
Our next addition, Yana (Stormchaser Soraya at Tanyvska), was bred by Lynn Hodge and Sue Brailsford. Yana has qualified for Crufts for life and has passed her Bronze Good Citizen Award.
Our most recent addition, Cork (Wolfen Incantation by Tanyvska) was bred by Kathy Hay, and is the son of our Boo. Cork has qualified for Crufts 2011 and has his Bronze Good Citizen Award.
Oz is our lovely crossbreed (aged 8) and Knight is our cat.

Mica was our first Leonberger and we will be eternally grateful to Sally-Anne Sandalls for letting us have her.
Mica is so good natured and always such a fun girl.
Miche loves going to shows and is well known around the ring for her enthusiasm. Although she is officially retired she does like to catch up with friends at the Leonberger Club Shows.
Notable wins (from her heyday) included 4 reserve best bitches at Championship shows, a Best of Breed at Darlington Championship Show and more recently a first in the Good Citizen class at Crufts (at the age of 8).
Despite introducing her to what we felt were some eligible suitors, Miche said that she wasn't that kind of girl and preferred to be "Auntie" rather than have puppies of her own.
Miche was 11 on 26 January 2011 and still enjoys her daily walks, albeit at a slower pace.

Boo was 7 years old in March 2011. He is an absolute pleasure to live with and particularly enjoys runs through the forest and standing at the bottom of trees barking at squirrels (real or imaginary).
Boo has been successful in the showring. Despite breaking a bone in his foot chasing through the forest (in a booby trap set by one of the squirrels no doubt) he still secured three Challenge Certificates (giving him his UK title), eight Reserves and a Best in Show at the Leonberger Club Open Show.
Boo dated Lady (Vectiseleon Vivacious Lady of Wolfen) and fathered a litter of puppies. We had a puppy back from this litter (Cork). Boo has been a great father to Cork and adopted father to Yana, showing them endless patience and steering them away from trouble.
Boo is semi-retired from the showring.

Yana was born in May 2009 and is one of our "kids". She is a very full on bundle of love and fun. Always eager to be part of everything that's going on and very intelligent. Boo has taught Yana the delights of barking at imaginary squirrels and as with all things, Yana has taken this sport up with heaps of enthusiasm.
Yana loves hydrotherapy and has speed and style in the water that would make the average otter green with envy.
Yana has also started agility training. Although the border collies are not exactly quaking in their boots, she has proved surprisingly talented.
In the showring, Yana has done well, picking up her first Challenge Certificate out of Junior in summer 2010 and being made up to Champion in Autumn 2011.

Cork, Boo's son was born in August 2009 and is one of our "kids".
Cork loves to find things. This can be (on the positive side) toys hidden away, fetching slippers or (on the less positive side) plant bulbs and rootballs.
Despite his size Cork is very gentle and is even allowed to wash the cat's ears (The cat is very fussy about who washes her ears).
Cork enjoys running with the others but doesn't really see the need to stand at the bottom of trees and bark. He loves all dogs, even those that want to rip his throat out, which he thinks will come round once they get to know him better.
Cork has had a number of wins at Championship shows, a group placing and some puppy group placings at open shows
