Klancraig are a small family Kennel based in Shropshire. We are Kennel Club Accredited Breeders. Our dogs are first and foremost family companions but they are occasionally shown and competitively worked and more recently actively worked on our local shoot.

In the UK the GWP is still a ‘dual purpose’ breed which continues to be both shown and worked unlike many gundog breeds which have split and are bred to fulfil one role or the other. Our dogs have been carefully chosen from proven show and working lines for their conformation and working ability (beauty and brains).

The health and welfare of our dogs and the puppies we may occasionally breed is paramount and as such, our breeding dogs and bitches are all hip scored and have either been DNA tested for von Willebrands or come from lines which have been DNA tested clear of Von Willebrands. As future DNA tests become available for conditions which affect the Breed, we will test accordingly.

Our dogs are all raw fed on a combination of meaty bones, raw minces, fruit and vegetables and minimally vaccinated and our puppies are 'naturally' reared in a family environment.

Penny is a professional dog groomer and is currently the Membership Secretary of the German Wirehaired Pointer Club and formerly sat on the Health Sub Group and acted as Breed Rescue Co-ordinator having also been actively involved in Dalmatian Rescue.
