Crindle House

Crindle House, Crindle, Northern Ireland is the birthplace and family home of Betty Wright. It is also the insperation for the "Crindle" affix which we aquired some 20 years ago. Although very much a joint effort, Betty has the doggy vision that has proved to be the most important part of the Crindle success story.

Why French Bulldogs ?
Betty has early recollections of a story her father had read about a little dog used by the infantry fighting in the trenches during the 1st world war. The story included a faded picture of a French Bulldog with multiple packages containing, what her father thought to be, ammunition strapped to his back. It later transpired that the cargo was a product of a fertile imagination. Thanks to Vivian Watkins and her knowledge of Frenchie history we were able to correct our misconceptions of wartime events. The courageous little fella was indeed a French Bulldog named Mutt, a YMCA mascot, his load being cigarettes for the troops, not ammunition. He was with the infantry in France at Chateau-Thiervy on the River Marne approximately 65 miles from Paris, the scene of heavy fighting during the 1918 German offensive. The story and description of Mutt re-told many times was now firmly imprinted in Betty’s mind. Although other breeds followed, the Frenchie remained a firm favourite for us both.

We are proud of our success to date at Crindle. All the more remarkable because of the small number of dogs we can accommodate. Not a kennel as such and very much hobby breeders. It is a passion to exhibit quality french bulldogs in the UK. Betty is a championship show judge awarding challenge certificates within the breed. We are members of both UK breed clubs, namely "The French Bulldog Club of England" and "The Midland & Northern Counties French Bulldog Club". Crindle is registered with the Kennel Club Accredited Breeder Scheme, which we fully support.

Enquires for Puppies should contain full name & address and your reasons for choosing our breed. All puppies that leave us are endorsed 'Not for Export' and 'Not For Progeny'. New owners will be carefully vetted to ensure puppies only go to 'for ever' loving homes.

Holly was a compact little girl with great presence and attitude, a real gem. Her father is Ch. Tommyville Thomas Tomkin and her mum is Hello Dolly Crindle (Ella) a great show girl. Please follow link below to see Ella's picture.

Phoebe had a great start back in 2007 to her show career gaining her 1st cc at Southern Counties followed by a 2nd cc at 3 Counties, then RCC at Birmingham City quite an achievment at just 12 months old.
More great news followed early in 2008 when she gained her title with a 3rd CC and BIS at The French Bulldog Club of England championship show in April.

Introducing the new boy Monty. He is home bred, sired by Ch Risethor Bulletproof at Alfiam to our Crindle girl pictured above. Once again Phoebe has done us proud with her latest and final litter of 2 puppies, Monty being the sole survivor.Also pictured above is his grandmother Holly.
