Cailloch Golden Retrievers was established in 1999, when 'Reme' (Amilone Remembrance) joined our family, simply as a pet. We were infected by the Golden Retriever Virus, and that means you can't just stop at one!
Reme was joined after a year by her half sister 'Callie' (Amilone Caledonia For Cailloch). We entered a few shows, but Callie was not keen on the idea.
In 2002 Reme had a litter of puppies, and 'Meggie' (Cailloch Meg O'The Mill) stayed with us.
In March 2003, we chose Kim Ellis' 'Rowan' (Tenfield Border Patrol JW) as a mate for Callie, and bred our first show litter, from which we kept 'Corran' (Cailloch Flamboyant) as a showgirl. Kim asked us for 'Chase' (Cailloch Racer To Tenfield JW), and both these girls have done us proud in the show ring.
Corran was exhibited at Crufts in 2005, where she was shortlisted to the last 8 in a class of 27 bitches, & also in 2006. She has taken us all over the country winning many red rosettes at Open & Championship shows.
Her sister Chase obtained her Junior Warrant and qualified for the Pet Plan Junior Stakes Final in 2004, the only gundog to do so that year.

Callie gave us a beautiful second litter to Kim Ellis' 'Tor' (Tenfield Border Rambler JW) from which 'Chloe' (Cailloch Prima-Donna) went to live with Angus & Sylvia Perry as their show girl. Sadly Callie was taken from us after a short and brutal battle in June 2006.

In December 2005, when I asked Jack what he wanted for Christmas, he said he would like his own dog. We were not planning a litter of our own for some time, and we strongly believe that puppies should never be bought or given as Christmas presents so we sensibly waited till early 2006, and chose the lovely 'Rhea' (Rosinante Balalaika at Cailloch) from Sue Russell's Rosinante kennel. Rhea is related to 'Vinecroft Princess Alice' who is the grand old lady behind all our other girls.

Jack has been testing the 'working waters' with Rhea and has taken her out picking up. She is a real Daddy's girl, misses him when he is away and yodels a welcome as soon as she sees him. Rhea has had one litter of puppies to Kim Ellis' Tenfield Sea Biscuit. 'Harley' (Cailloch Santos) from that litter, has gone to live with John and Lesley Prior as a show dog.

Corran presented us with a beautiful litter of puppies to 'Hugo' (Ir Ch/ShCh Willowlawn Faberge JW) in September 2006. We have kept 'Teal' (Cailloch Spinnaker) from that litter.
Due to holidays, family committments and moving home in 2007, Teal only attended two shows as a puppy, and decided that the show scene was not for her. She has therefore 'retired' and stays with us as a family pet.

In June 2008 we welcomed 'Tenfield Celtic Echo Of Cailloch' aka 'Echo' to our family. Echo is grand daughter of our beloved Callie and has settled right in putting her paws firmly under and sometimes on the table. She is full of love and licks and began her show career being placed at six of her first eight shows.
Unfortunately her behaviour left a little to be desired and she has not done her lovely construction justice in the show ring. However, once she had learned to keep her feet on the ground, Echo was awarded Reserve Best Golden Retriever Bitch at the United Retriever Club Open Show in February 2010.

Easter 2010 saw great sadness in our canine family when our martiarch Reme left us to go and play at the Rainbow Bridge. She was a huge presence in our hearts and our home and we miss her dreadfully.

From Echo's July 2011 litter to Meloak Buccaneer at Ipcress 'Leksi'(Cailloch Helter Skelter) has joined the family. She is a much paler colour than our other girls - something new for us to try in the show ring! She has a really sweet temperament: biddable, loving and easy going. Leksi made her show debut in January 2012. She was given Best Puppy by judge Angus Perry at Stoke on Trent & District Gundog Club and qualified for Crufts 2013 at the GRC of Wales Championship Show. Since then she has frequently been 'in the cards' and repeated her Crufts qualification twice more. At Evesham & District Canine Society Open Show she was awarded Best Puppy by judges Brenda and John Taylor and Puppy Group 4 by Judge Keith Young. Show achievements are nice to have but most importantly, she continues to be an absolute delight to have in our family.

We firmly believe in dogs that are 'Fit for Function and Fit for Life' and health check all our breeding dogs in accordance with KC/BVA guidelines. We are KC Assured Breeders.
