Ousebay Rhodesian Ridgebacks

Kauri came to us when he was three years old, (he is now thirteen) he settled in with the rest of the ridgebacks very easily. Kauri is a very good natured westie who mixes well with dogs and people, so much so that he was asked to play the role of Sandy the dog in a five night run of 'Annie' the stage musical. Needless to say he stole the show!

This boy is the most intelligent dog that I have ever owned. His nature is second to none, a temperament that he has passed to all his offspring. A very versatile dog who has excelled in many areas, being a real ambassador for the breed. Apart from gaining his title in the show ring Mungo has performed heelwork to music alongside twelve horses in a demonstration for the Queen, she recognised the breed immediately. He was also quite comfortable working alongside various actors in a episode of Diamond Geezer with David Jason. The crew just loved him. A KC Gold Good Citizen award dog. To sum him up a real gentleman.

Inca is a beautiful example of a livernose ridgeback. She has the most delightful temperament, proving that you can have beauty and brains. Inca has many talents. In the showring she is known for her very good movement but her real forte is heelwork to music which she excells at. She has performed at local fetes and clubs, where her outgoing friendly nature really shows. Inca also worked on Diamond Geezer alongside Mungo. Her son from her last litter is also star struck, appearing on a photo shoot for OK magazine with Girls Aloud singer, Sarah Harding. A testament to the outgoing nature of this line. To sum Inca, up a real lady.

Moose has a lot to live up to, he is only a young dog. This line is a slow maturing line as a result he is only just ready to embark on his show career. This does not mean that he has been idling away. Another member of the Diamond Geezer cast where he used his very good obedience and retrieving skills. Moose has gained his bronze and silver K.C. Good Citizen awards and is very busy at present working towards the Gold award. Watch this space for Moose's progress.

York is the home of Ousebay Ridgebacks, who love nothing better than exploring the banks and bays of the River Ouse. The main aim of the Ousebay kennel is to promote the breed in a responsible manner. This is achieved by only breeding from dogs that are sound in body and mind.
All dogs used in our breeding programmes are hip scored through the KC scoring system and only those with good scores are used.
We are Alex and Ian Schofield and have been members of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Great Britain and The Midlands and Northern Rhodesian Ridgeback Club for over twenty years. We care deeply about this beautiful breed which is why we do not breed very often, we only breed to keep a puppy for ouselves.
