Brackenmist

I have had dogs all my life, the first being an Irish Setter who was a great family pet and super introduction into the world of gundogs. My father enjoyed many years of rough shooting and general field work with him (although i am sure Copper worked my father equally hard!!!)
When Copper passed away we debated which breed would best suit our lifestyle and decided on Weimaraners based on their joie de vie, 1983 saw the start of our love affair with the 'Grey Beasties'

The first three, sadly now long gone, were bought from the renowned Tasairgid Kennel in Helensburgh. Their memories live on in Brackenmist Kindred Spirit Cdex Udex (Fern) our homebred bitch now 13yrs old. Long since retired from working trials & the show ring she enjoys her days keeping the rest in order!

1999 saw the next Wei to join the fold. Breeze came from Gordon Haran & Marion Waddell of the Illustrious Magregor Kennel (home to numerous Weimaraner & GSP Show Champions the latest Sh Ch being Welsh Springer Spaniel ).

Breeze - kennel name Ir Sh Ch Magregor Agent Provocateur at Brackenmist Sh CM ( CW07). She is a wonderful ambassador for the breed totally zany with a zest for life and legendary smiles to boot. Her many successes in the show ring include attaining her Sh CM Title in 5 shows, Best in Shows and Green Star Majors. Her biggest win to date is being placed 4th in the Gundog Group at Fermoy Championship Show Clonmel 2005, this along with her infectous nature were the main reasons for going back to Magregor for a second one.

Ice - Magregor Cozmo Jenks in Brackenmist Sh CM joined us in 2003, a true gentleman of the breed but retaining that Magregor zest for life. He has enjoyed countless successes in the show ring including gaining his Sh CM title at 20 months of age, Best in Shows & Green Star Majors, his biggest success so far was being placed 4th in the Gundog Group at the International Championship All Bull Breeds Show in Dublin 2005.

Two of Ices children, Niagramist Total Attitude (Frost) and Niagramist Thunderbay over Brackenmist (Shadow) are also making their mark in the show ring both qualifying for Crufts 2007. Frost also won Best in Show at the Weimaraner Club of Scotland open Show Sept 06

The last of my Magregor Weimaraners is Magregor Kiss This Through Brackenmist JW (CJW06). Aspen was born in January 2005 and life has not been dull since she arrived. A real live wire and into everything. I thought I had learned everything I had to know about Weis but every day is a school day with Aspi. She too has been a consistant winner gaining her junior warrant at 14 months of age and having Groups and Best in Show wins to her credit. She has also won a res Green Star & a Res CACIB and has gained her Irish Celtic Junior Warrant Title 06 bearing in mind she has achieved these wins before reaching 18months of age.

My close friend Linda McGillivray of the Top Winning Antonine Kennel of Labradors and Clumbers Spaniels asked me if I would like to show her Gsp Magregor Bobbi Brown, as her classes were always clashing with the Labs and Clumbers (now they just clash with the Weimars!) I jumped at the chance as Bobbi is just my type of Gsp.Since then we have enjoyed a number of successes including numerous championship class wins ,3 res Green Stars 2 res CC's, Best in Show at Gundog Breeds of Scotland open show May 2006 and that same summer she won her first CC at Paignton . Her 2nd followed at Birmingham May 2007 and the all important 3rd coming at City of Birmingham Sept 07.Bobbi has a beautiful temperment and is a joy to have and show.

I have handled most breeds within the gundog group and have judged all breeds within this group & a few outwith at open show level. I am currently on the b list for Weimaraners and Gsp's.
