Kyokujitsu (Rising Sun) kennels was established in Jan 2002 with an initial dog from Akakuro kennels to promote the pure bred Akita-Inu as opposed to the bigger more prolific American Akita. A bitch from Akakuro followed and then to increase the available gene pool in UK, a bitch from Tartagals in Finland, a male brindle from Royal Nippon in Israel and finally a bitch from Cara Shinju in Holland. Showing took place mostly in Eire as the IKC had split the breed according to the FCI and JKC ruling. In September 2005 we moved to department 36 in the Centre region of France where we had great success, with Kumiko taking a 3rd Best in Show and a Group 5 win in France.We also had numerous wins in Spain and Luxembourg. We have now moved to County Roscommon in IRELAND where we will continue to promote this great breed. Our main interest is in showing and promoting the Japanese Akita-Inu. Our first Akita Inu (now retired)Kato was the first BOB and CACIB winner at the Irish Kennel Club St Patricks day show in 2003 and 2004. Both our Israel import Int Ir and Lux Ch Musashi and Dutch bitch Int/Ir/Lux Ch Kumiko have won CACIB's in France and throughout Europe. Musashi was the first Akita Inu to win group 5 under FCI rules here in Ireland at an all breeds champ show in Kilkenny in 2007.All our dogs are hip scored before being used for breeding. We were one of the first kennels to register under the Kennel Club Accredited Breeder Scheme.Prior to the Japanese Akita Inu we trained and showed Newfoundlands
