Kidston Golden Retrievers live here.

Kidston Cottage is situated next to Norrington Common in the rural Wiltshire countryside. It is ten miles from Bath and eleven miles from the M4, junction 17. We settled here in 1982 to have more room for our growing number of goldens. Although they all live in the house, they have a third of an acre to play in. The dogs, Cassie 6 Gibbs and Dora 4 Jack 2 and Tess 2, a niece of Cassie, live with our two cats.

Cassie, our beautiful show bitch is just the type of golden that we love. She has the look of the eight generations of her ancestors that we bred here at Kidston.

Kidston Serendipity ( Brie )

Kidston Serendipity ( Brie )

Brie is the the mother of Darcey and great granny of Cassie. For those who show, Brie is the dam of Angela Callows Kidston Tutankhamen .We lost Brie in 2015. Her offspring and great grandchildren continue to give much pleasure.

Kidston Aquarius ( Connor )

Kidston Aquarius ( Connor )

Connor was without a doubt one of our kennels favourites. He had a fantastic outlook on life and enjoyed all aspects of being a dog ,which when all is said and done is what pets are for.We lost him at fourteen years and one week old.

We are members of the Golden Retriever Club and abide by their code of ethics regarding the recommended health testing of our dogs. The breed average for hips is 18 and ideally breeding stock are below that figure.Elbows score between 0 and 3.It is now recommended that only 0 elbows are bred from .We try to follow this criteria when breeding. Both parents should have a recent ( within the last year) clear eye certificate but the most important aspect of a golden retriever should be their gentle temperament. Our love of and addiction to Golden Retrievers started with the arrival of Amber Chapman, Pennard Golden Easter of Kidston. This was in 1979 and 37 years later there is still no sign of a cure. Our kennels foundation stock were Tiffany, Braydan Lisa Lehtonen of Kidston and Harvey, Pinecrest Pioneer of Kidston. Subsequently we have owned numerous dogs and bitches who have given us many happy and sad memories. It would be unfair to highlight individuals as all played a major role in establishing our kennel.
The aim of our breeding programme has always been to produce sound stock complying to the breed standard.Reference to our dogs pedigrees shown, will indicate how our current stock relate back to our originals.
We have enjoyed reasonable success in the show ring with most dogs shown achieving best of breed awards and three bred here getting their Junior Warrant.
We welcome enquiries regarding puppies with help and advice readily available.
