Gartraith Gentian Image at Gentiana (Genny) is a very pretty 5 years old girl. We called her Gentian after the beautiful Alpine flower because she was born in Spring about the same time as the Gentian flower blooms in the Alps. It is a while since Genny was in the show ring, but is presently visiting our local Nursing Home, where she gives a great deal of pleasure to the Residents who look forward to her arrival.

We have had pedigree dogs all our lives but our first recollection of a Retriever was with a black Labrador which Beryl's mother and father owned when she was very small. Having owned a variety of breeds over the years we came to own a cream Labrador whose pedigree name was Anser of Howcreek (Ace) who was out of an Australian Champion. He came to us in December 1982.
It was in January 1990 that we came to love Golden Retrievers. Our first "golden" was Major (Otterscroft Gruinard.) He was a direct son of Sh Ch Jobeka Jasper of Nortonwood. and from the word "Go!" he went everywhere with us.
Major had a wonderful life and was much travelled.
He will always remain very close to our hearts.

In 1994 we were delighted that we came to own Beamsley Becky - Tara , sired by Ch. Bramhills Pied Piper of Almerak. She was a grand daughter of Sh Ch Jobeka Jasper of Nortonwood : a beautiful puppy adored by us and a soul mate for Major.
She was as a pretty as a picture and as bright as a button: always eager to please. One of her favourite occupations was chasing squirrels. Many times she out ran them with dire consequences for the squirrel ! We miss her very much and will always remember her with the greatest of fondness. She was a "Star."

When Major was 11 and Tara 8 years old. Winston joined us as a beautiful 7 weeks old puppy. He is a son of Sh Ch Elswood the Highlander and came to us from Gartraith Golden Retrievers in Yorkshire.
From the start he loved the car and soon came to realise that it meant wonderful outings.
Now 7 years of age he is showing and doing very well indeed.
Gentian (Genny) also came from Gartraith Retrievers. She has a mischievous sense of humour. If anything quietly goes missing you can usually find it in Genny's mouth.

We are Founder Members of the KC Accredited Breeder Scheme. All our dogs live with us in our home and are with us for life. First and foremost they are our pets and precious companions.

In July 2005 Mitcharron Memphis Mist for Gentiana (Shiana) came to us from North Wales, followed by Abnalls Summer Dawn for Gentiana (Clementina) in October 2005.

Mitcharron River Phoenix for Gentiana (Alexander) who is just 3 years old is a very lively, extremely intelligent, and very affectionate boy.
HE IS A PROVEN STUD DOG, AND IS AVAILABLE TO BITCHES WITH THE NECESSARY HEALTH REQUIREMENTS.

Alexander is out of Sh Ch Shardanell Talk O' The Town at Ipcress JW, and is the sire of Gentiana Golden Tamara (Violet) who we kept from our last litter born April 09. Dam: Mitcharron Memphis Mist for Gentiana.
We have mated him to Rosie
(Gentiana Golden Primrose) and puppies are due on the 24th August, 2009.
You can learn more about our dogs on our website where you will also see many photographs of our dogs and puppies.

All our dogs have their Pet Passports and have travelled with us to France. If anyone would like advice on taking their dog(s) onto the Continent we would be pleased to give any advice we can.
