We have owned and shown Rhodesian Ridgebacks since 1977 and been members of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Great Britain for over 35 years and the Southern Rhodesian Ridgeback Assn. for over 15 years, and abide by the club's Code of Ethics. My dogs live in the house and are not kennelled. Although they have had some great successes in the showring, both here and abroad, they are firstly treasured companions. This is not a commercial kennel and litters are only bred occasionally when I want a puppy for myself, all are hip and elbow scored, and temperament is top priority. Although Ridgebacks are not particulary difficult to own, they cannot be described as an easy breed and these large enthusiastic hounds take up a lot of your time, needing plenty of exercise and careful training, as being hounds they can give a lazy appearance (most of the time!) but do like to hunt. If you have the dedication and patience to spend on your puppy in the early days he will reward you by making a devoted family dog/companion.
