Our first Lhasa Apso became part of our family about 15 years ago as a pet for our children a second Apso arrived about 12 months later.
We where hooked!
I decided to try my hand in the show ring as a hobby. This is when Driving Miss Daisy to Rienach, my foundation bitch joined us.
Gradually I became more involved with the breed and began to breed my own stock.
I have so far bred a champion dog who won 3rd place in the utility group at W.K.C 2005 and who was also top stud in the breed that same year, he achieved a further group placing at Birmingham National in 2006.
I have bred CC, RCC and BPIB winners and a dog who won the CACIB, Green Star and BOB plus a Res Green Star in Ireland.My breeding has also produced dogs who have won RBIS, BPIS and RBPIS at club shows as well as BIS, RBIS, BPIS, and RBPIS at general open shows.
I have also bred/owned several dogs which have gained their stud book number and junior warrant.
I am very proud to say that my breeding is now behind many of the top winning dogs in the breed at the moment.
During the last few years I have been increasingly involved with the Coton de Tulear by firstly joining the club and then becoming a member of the committee.
I am the Coton de Tulear breed note correspondent for the Our Dogs news paper I am the proud owner of four Cotons which have all done well in the ring, Cotonkiss Tangerine Dream gaining BB and RBB at a number of shows, Cotonkiss Valentino, winning BP, RBD, BD and BIR on many occasions which has made him top Coton de Tulear `05 as well as top Coton de Tulear puppy `05
and French Connection with Rishlyn who won BPIS at the first Coton de Tulear club show in the UK (`06) and RBD and BP at Crufts this year (`07).
My daughter Karra who is one of the top junior handlers in the country also handles my dogs she is, we believe, the first junior handler to qualify for Crufts with a Coton in the YKC handling competion.
This year (`07) Karra won the YKC utilty handling at Crufts with her Lhasa Apso, Kacey.
There is a new member of Rishlyn`s Coton show team waiting in the wings hopefully to carry on with the winning ways of her kennel mates and two young Lhasa Apso`s also ready to grace the show ring this year, future stars? Lets wait and see!
