Cuckmere

We live in the beautiful countryside of East Sussex with our 7 Golden Retrievers. We are very fortunate in living close to both forest walks and the sea.

Golden Retrievers have been part of our family since 1992 when we thought the children were old enough to be responsible for helping with the care of such a pet.

We currently have 7 Goldens in our family - the majority being generations I have bred and kept from my foundation bitch - Mollie who is now 12 years old and still enjoying life - apart from when the young puppies pester her mistaking her for the milk bar!

Since 1992 we have actively trained our dogs in obedience with the local dog club and currently have 3 dogs holding the Kennel Club Good Citizen Gold Award and 2 with Silver. Over the past couple of years we have entered a few dogs shows and achieved placings. I would like at some stage to be able to train at least one of the dogs to be a gundog - which is what they were originally bred for.

Our dogs are first and foremost family pets. With the majority of my puppies going to family homes, temperament is my main priority. Puppies are often cuddled by children within hours of their birth and the mums are more than happy for them to do this. I always seem to have a waiting list for puppies and I do encourage new owners to keep in touch and send me an occasional e-mail or photo with news on how their puppy is.

All of my dogs have been hip scored with consistantly well below average scores. I have now started to have elbows scored with my younger generations of puppies. All bitches used for breeding hold current clear eye certificates.

We are delighted that Jaffa - Poppygold Aniseed Twist for Cuckmere has got a brilliant hip score of 4:3, elbows 0:0 and clear eye certificate. He is now available at stud for approved bitches only. Please contact us for further details.

I am a member of both the Golden Retriever Club and the Southern Golden Retriever Society.
