Boxlock

We are a very small hobby kennel breeding no more than one litter a year at the moment. Only Melly is of the age to breed at the moment and Flo will hopefully be well next year. We have other dogs that have now retired. We have been operating in this fashion for over ten years breeding working Labradors for Gundog Work and companions. Flo is our first ItalianSpinone.

Since Melly was born I have taken over from the parents in all respects. I have joined agility and obedience clubs. I have also trained Melly to work on the field. In the last year I began Showing our newest arrival Flo, from the Bannonbrig Kennel.She qualified for Crufts at her first show but came into season a week before. It was a shame but her Dad came second and her cousin Bannonbrig Roy of the Rovers (Louis) won best of breed.

Both dogs have now been hipscored and Melly has also been eyetested. There are no more tests for either breed but DNA testing is available for Labradors' eyes and is something we are considering. Prospecive owners of a Spinone must be aware of Cerbellar Ataxiar. It is a rare genetic desease but researchers are close to devising a test for this.

We carefully research any prospective stud dog to compliment our Bitches attributes and hopefully improve our line. We do not import bloodlines but it is something we would consider in the future.
